The Next Day

“So what is this you wanted to meet me for?” Amanda asked as she sat down outside the café.
Carmen smiled, grinning from ear to ear. She had just had a meeting with Marc and some of the executives of the club, and they had offered her a promotion.
“So I told you I received a promotion yesterday didn’t I?” Carmen bounced her leg up and down, so excited that she couldn’t keep still.
“Yeah you did, I’m so happy for you!” She reached forward and pulled her into a an embrace. “So what does this promotion mean for you?”

“It means I get to run the whole music part of the business. Over seeing new bands, new DJ’s, what kind of themes we should have etc.”
Amanda beamed “So basically you have Marc’s job?”
Carmen nodded “Yeah”
“So has marc got a promotion too?”
“Yeah he did, but the thing is they want me to run the new LA club” There the cat was out of the bag.
Amanda frowned “So you’re going home?”
“It looks that way” Carmen reached for Amanda’s hand. “And I would love it if you came back with me.”

Amanda looked shocked. “Carm –
“Amanda I’m going to be honest with you”
“Okay, but I need to tell you something as well”
Carmen smiled “I really like you. I didn’t think I would start to feel this way again after everything I went through with Shane. My heart was completely ripped to pieces but gradually its started to mend and you are to thank for that. You’ve shown me that no matter what happens something good is always around the corner. We might not see it but its there. I want to thank you for that. I want you to come with me, I know your job is here in New York but with a new club opening in LA they need a PR to get interest flowing, to bring in the big guys. And your perfect for the job…. Plus you’ll be there with me” Carmen winked.

Amanda was shocked and it showed on her face. She didn’t know what to say. She knew that sooner or later Carmen would head home but she never thought she would ask her to go with her. She cleared her throat – “Carmen, I don’t know what to say”
“Say yes. Say that you will come to LA with me”
Amanda looked away then looked back into Carmen’s eyes. They were brimming with happiness something she had never seen before in such force in her eyes.
“I can’t”
“What?”
“Carmen. I really like you too, and I would love to go but” she sighed “I’ve got news to tell you also.”
Carmen sat looking at Amanda like she was a stranger.
“Please stop looking at me like that” she whispered.
Carmen shook her head “I’m sorry, what news did you have?”
“I got offered a job, also back home”
“In Atlanta?”
