Love’s Recovery
“Are we spelling everything now?” Shane grumbled before draining her wine glass in one swig.
“No,” Tina insisted. “We will refer to her as Bette’s mom or much to my chagrin, Mrs. Doubtfire, but I cannot spell out this entire conversation or her name each time we want to mention it. And to answer your question, the more that Bette thinks she’s in charge of the outcome the better chance they have of reconciling which I think is a good thing.”
“Oh my god! TK does have an opinion that she’s sharing!” Alice tossed loose Legos in the air in celebration and grinned as Angie mimicked her action.
“I’ve always had an opinion, Alice, I just am careful about when I share it and with whom.”
“I think trying is the best answer too,” Shane offered, carrying her empty glass to the sink and grabbing a beer from the refrigerator. “I think the worst thing that can happen is it doesn’t work out, but at least she tried and didn’t cut herself off from a chance to get to know her mom. If she doesn’t like her, then she becomes one of those annoying distant relatives.”
“Like Lenore,” Alice mumbled.
Tina laughed at Alice’s tone of voice.
“I grew up waiting for her to break into my room and scream no more wire coat hangers after I saw Mommy Dearest! The resemblance to Joan Crawford is uncanny.”
“Your mom is not bad,” Shane chuckled when Alice gave her ‘the look’. “Tina, do you want a relationship with Mrs. Doubtfire?”
“I want my wife to be happy, that’s the most important thing to me. But I have to admit I’m intrigued at the possibility of finally having one of Bette’s parents actually like me and not minimize our relationship. There’s the added bonus of giving Angie an actual grandparent.”
“Do you think she can get Bette to let her in?” Alice asked.
“Bette is a tough nut to crack,” Shane pointed out. “For both of their sakes I hope she does.”
“I don’t know, TK,” Alice marveled at her newest Lego creation, a rainbow-colored house, “if it means that much to you, you certainly have the power to make Porter putty in your hands.”

Bette and Maxine have to discuss what happened to cause Maxine to make the choices she made. They can either discuss their history or their current status. Bette is making any communication impossible. Bette needs to shelve her anger and allow Maxine to tell her story. Then she can make a judgement as to if she wants a relationship or not. It is understandable that she is angry based upon what she knows. But she has agreed to give Maxine a chance. Now just do what you agreed to do, Bette!
Good story…keep them coming.

I am sorry ladies but i don’t agree with you.
I fully understand that Bette is angry with Maxine. She comes home from a work trip and suddenly there is Maxine, who has stubbornly squeezed herself into Bette’s family and friends, and Bette must suddenly give her a chance?
Bette should be given the opportunity to think carefully first, she is now more or less forced to talk to Maxine and give her a chance to tell her story.
Let Bette decide whether she wants to give Maxine a chance and not feel compelled by her friends, Tina, Kit and Maxine just because they think Bette should give Maxine that chance.
Great story Gumby and don’t you dare to wait another ten years to update ????????

Thank you for the story!
Ok, so i think this Bette is still self-absorbed Bette who think first only about herself. If she don’t want to have any deal with her mother – it’s her choice, but i think she don’t have a right demanding that Tina and Angie don’t have a deal with Maxine too.
