    A Danish romance in just a few chapters. In this installment: Shane makes a confession. Dana proposes to make Alice’s dream come true and Alice goes for a record, of sorts.

    There are all kinds of bad tired, but the good tired, that’s a rarity. Alice and Dana cringed when the alarm went off at 7:30, having gotten but three hours of sleep, yet they were both radiant.

    “I’ll help you put the living room back together,” Dana said, kissing Al good morning. “I’m going to go pick some oranges, make some juice and some coffee and cut up some fruit while you shower and then I’ll rinse off.”

    “Under most circumstances, I’d agree that that is a practical plan,” Alice responded, wiping the sleep from her eyes. “But I did tell Shane to bring breakfast. Come shower with me.”

    “Believe me, I am soooooo tempted,” Dana nuzzled Al’s earlobe before jumping up, earning a disappointed groan from Alice, who flopped onto her back in protest.

    “But?”

    “But we would still be otherwise engaged when she gets here.” Alice smiled at the truth of that. “And, think about it…what’s Shane’s idea of a great breakfast?”

    It was a no brainer.

    “Chili dogs and triple shot espressos never killed us before.”

    “I’m not saying it will this time,” Dana pulled Al to her feet and pointed her to the bathroom, “but we were never trying to get pregnant before.” She patted Alice’s firm ass and sent her on her way.

    Shane’s concession to health was to add pineapple and fresh tomatoes to the pepperoni pizza she brought.

    “Nice, Yoda,” Al teased when she opened the box. “Dane will be down in a minute.”

    “I’m kind of glad that we have a sec to ourselves,” Shane mumbled. “I want to tell you again how sorry I am…”

    “No need.” Alice laid a hand on Shane’s arm and looked her in the eyes. “It doesn’t matter.”

    “It does, but thank you.” Shane took a gulp from her ever-present paper coffee cup, as Dana joined them, hair as wet as Alice’s. ”You guys got a big day planned?”

    “Not really,” Dana accepted a glass of juice and kissed Alice on the cheek. “Just going buckle down and get as much accomplished as we can this week so everything will be in order when we go.”

    “Go where?” Shane’s heart sank.

    “Dane’s taking me to Maui with her.” Alice’s smile was so irresistible even Shane felt a little brighter.

    5. Awww, what a beautiful proposal! The way you write these two is just incredible. I’m also liking the idea of Shane and Beth. I’ve sort of stopped liking Carmen since she was such a bitch in Season 3, and honestly I think Beth would be better for her. Either way, though, this is great, even if it’s only a “dip your toe back in” kinda story.
