    Chapter 10 Bette remembers something from her past while Tina tells Eric it’s over.

    Bette fell back on to her bed, looking at the clock. It was just about time for Tina’s lunch date with Eric. She figured Tina would be safe. Eric wouldn’t do anything in broad daylight. No, he waited for the cover of night to expose his dark side. She closed her eyes, thinking about those few years ago, when they were just fourteen years old.

    Bette leaned against the lockers, trying her best to put on a smile. Eric leaned in, just inches from her face, his arm outstretched, his palm flat against the metal of the locker door. Even at fourteen, the boy was a Cassanova. "Do you know how beautiful you are?"

    She only smiled wider, biting her lower lip as she searched those cold blue eyes. Those icy pools of nothingness that seemed to sear her body. Wasn’t this what dating was all about? Girl meets boy, they go out, they kiss, they stay together forever.

    But Bette didn’t want to meet a boy. She wanted to go to school, do well, and prove to everyone that she wasn’t a little version of her sister. She had no interest in boys. They were fine on their side of the table, but Eric was so close. So close to her, his hot breath dampening her neck. "Just come out with me tonight." He pleaded, whispering in her ear.

    "Okay." She barely uttered, giving in to his demands. ‘It wouldn’t hurt to go out once. Besides, all of your other friends have gone out with a boy. Don’t want to be left out, do you?’ Bette thought to herself as she wrote her address and phone number on the corner of a piece of loose-leaf paper.

    Bette knew that she wasn’t like all of her other friends. While they ranted on and on about the boys at school, the men on television and in the movies, or the singers that were just ‘so hot,’ Bette looked at women. Men were just men, but women were beautiful. Their figures, their hair, their lips, eyes, boobs, the way their clothes fit, the way they floated when they walked, the way their hips rocked back and forth…everything.

    She couldn’t voice anything like that to her friends though. They’d call her a freak. But if she told them she was going out on a date with Eric Montague, she’d be their idol for weeks.
