The next day, Bette pulled up to the Kennard household just as Amy, Samantha, and Jagger were leaving. She parked and exited the car quickly, dashing up to them.
"Hello Bette." Amy said, smiling.
"Hi Mrs. Kennard, Samantha. Is Tina home?"
"Yeah." Samantha answered, "But she’s in a pissy mood, so I’d watch out if I were you."
Damn. Bette tried her best not to let them see her frown. They obviously didn’t know why she was in that mood, and Bette didn’t want to give anything away. "Oh is she? Should I come back?"

"Nonsense," Amy shook her head and put her hand on Bette’s back, leading her to the front door. "I think a friend is just what Tina needs at the moment."
"But where are you two going?" Bette asked. She was happy to be alone with Tina, but she didn’t want them to know that.
"I’m going grocery shopping." Amy answered.
"And I’m taking Jagger for the longest walk of both of our lives." Samantha followed. "We tried to cheer her up, but nothing worked. Maybe you can help her out."
Bette only shrugged. "I can try." If she doesn’t attack me first.
"Well, best of luck." Amy said, getting into her car. "I should be back in an hour or two."
"Okay." Bette said, putting on her best smile. Soon, Amy and Samantha were gone. Bette slowly opened the door and stepped inside, looking around. Tina wasn’t anywhere in sight. "Tee? It’s Bette." She called out, moving cautiously throughout the house. It was silent and dark; no lights were on. Bette walked to Tina’s room, looking in the living room as she passed it. Tina wasn’t in either room. Where could she be? "Tina?"
Bette walked into the kitchen, looking at the door leading to the backyard. Sure enough, she saw the top of Tina’s head poking out from the back of a lawn chair. Bette very cautiously made her way outside, not saying a word until she was facing Tina.
She didn’t look too good. Her hair was windblown and her eyes were red, burned with unshed tears. She was just sitting there in some old sweats and a t-shirt, her arms wrapped around her knees, which were tucked beneath her chin. She looked up at Bette, her voice cracking as she spoke. "What are you doing here?"

Holy hell I needed this chapter to pull me out of the trenches from Sunday’s episode. Why am I even watching when I can just live happily in Fan Fiction Denialville? Manda, your story is excellent and again, I thank you for writing it at a time when it’s situation critical. As for Bette, woman up and go get your girl. Parting is such sweet sorrow, Monty! I am loving this story. It is so cute reading how Tina is wanting to know everything about Bette. Bette is being too nice by not telling Tina what happened with Eric. Eric is just a jerk and needs an adjustment with his behaviour and quick.
