    Chapter 10 Bette remembers something from her past while Tina tells Eric it’s over.

    And that’s when she screamed.

    She screamed as loud as she could right inside his mouth, stunning him. He pulled back just enough for Bette to slip her arms between them and push as hard as she could before making a mad dash for the street. She ran. She ran all the way home, panting, sweating, and crying as she sneaked into the house and up to her bathroom, where she promptly threw up.

    After a while of quiet intense sobbing, Bette peeled off her clothes and took a shower, hoping to wash the feeling of filth that settled all over her body. As she sat in the corner of the tub, letting the water run over her body, Bette promised herself that she would never let that happen again. Eric fucking Montague be damned. She didn’t care if he was the most popular boy in school. Never again would he get that close to her.

    The next day, Bette wasn’t well received by her friends, who berated her for running out on Eric when he was trying to show her how much he liked her. And when Bette defended herself, they refused to believe her. So, she told them to go to hell, deciding at that moment that she was better off without them.

    And when Eric caught up to her in the hallway, and she threatened to flatten his balls with her knee if he came any closer, he only laughed and called her a prude and an ice queen who wouldn’t get an opportunity to be with him again, ever. Bette decided and voiced that she’d rather swallow broken glass than ever go out with him again and Eric invited her to do so. So she punched him square in the jaw, jarring one of his back molars loose. And he cried. And she walked away, feeling more proud of herself than she ever had in her life, even though her hand was pounding.

    But nobody ever remembers that part. They do remember "Prudey Porter," though, the immature, unintelligent, completely unoriginal name that the most popular guy in school christened her. And for the past four years, whenever they entered each other’s sights, Eric would call Bette, "Prudey Porter" and Bette called him "Monty," a name that asserted the fact that he was a rich, spoiled brat who caused nothing but trouble.

    5. I think I’d rather swallow broken glass than finish watching S3. Correction, I think I now know what swallowing broken glass is like due to S3. Awesome chapter as always, Manda! Tina, your almost at the end of the “Bette is the right person for you” marathon. Make it happen! Much respect for this story Manda.
