“I’m sorry, I was just joking. If I offended you, I didn’t mean to.”

Tina started to laugh, a bit nervous, but she laughed. “It’s okay, I can handle a joke. So we have a date………….mmmm, interesting.”

Bette smiled back. So Tina liked jokes and she went along with hers, good. “What time do we meet?”

“Are you an early riser? Cause if you are, I can take you to the market.”

“Cool, what time?”

“Let’s say, eight sharp. Meet me here at the store.”

“What, you don’t want your boyfriend to meet me? Afraid he might become jealous?”

“You’re funny, I don’t have a boyfriend. So no, I’m not afraid he’d be jealous. I see you tomorrow at eight. Just make sure, you’re here.”

“Yes ma’am.”

Bette paid for her ice and left.

“And Bette………bring enough bags.”Tina laughed when she said that and winked, sending a thrill through Bette’s body.

“I will.”

Bette came home and changed into her training gear. She left jogged to the gym where she joined a boxing class. Since she still had energy left, she ended with some weightlifting. It was towards eleven o’clock when she finished her last exercise.

“Hey Missy, what’s up with you? I’ve never seen you that fanatic. Was it that bad at work today? Did the truce between you and Big Bertha didn’t last that long?”

“No Shane, on the contrary. Big Bertha was on sick-leave today, because of her finger. So the men did their best to get my attention, which was fun.”

“So no Big Bertha, what or who is it that got you acting like this? There’s something about you…….” Shane looked at Bette with a cautious look in her eyes.

“You know Shane why I call you Yoda? It’s because of these moments. Nothing escapes your attention. It’s scary, but you’re right. I’m excited. Tomorrow I have an appointment with a gorgeous woman.”

“What, which woman? Bette you’ve just moved in for two days. You and Big Bertha are the only two women working at the DIY-store. And I happen to know for a fact, you don’t date your co-workers. So where did this mystery woman came from?”

“She works at the grocery store on the corner. Man she’s a stunner! And she offered me to show me around the neighborhood. How could I refuse?”
