    “Wow, you have a very beautiful voice. Who are you and where did you learn how to sing like that?”

    “Thank you, my name is Bette, Bette Porter.”

    “Are you related to Kit Porter, because that was her song.”

    “Actually, she’s my sister and we use to sing this song in the house when I was younger. So I know this song by heart.”

    The gilr, who’s name was Candice, looked at Bette, surprised.

    “Kit Porter your sister? But Kit is black and you are white……..”

    “No, I’m bi-racial. Kit and I have the same father. My mother was white and raised Kit when her mother died.”

    “I see, now I understand where the “black” sound comes from. Did you ever consider
    singing?”

    “My sister use to ask me that too but singing for me was just a way to relax. And my life took another turn.” Thinking about what she’d been through the past five years, brought tears to Bette’s eyes.

    “I’m sorry, I didn’t want to upset you.”

    “That’s okay, you couldn’t know.”

    Bette and Candice, sat and talked for awhile. Candice asked Bette if she wanted to sing another song with her. Bette agreed and together they went back on stage. Before stepping up, Bette asked Candice not to mention anything about her being related to Kit. She didn’t explain why but Candice respected it.

    “Ladies and gentlemen, I’m very honored to sing my next song with Bette. She just walked in and sang my former song along. She said it reminded her of her childhood. This next song is also one of her favorites. I hope you’ll enjoy.”

    Candice told the band what the song they wanted to sing. And then the band started with the intro. Once again after finishing the song the audience applauded long. Bette, being a shy person, made a little bow and walked off stage. Then the owner of the place approached her.

    “Bette, you have a very nice voice, did you ever consider singing?”

    “No, I haven’t. I’m honored that you’re asking me that question, you’re the second person asking me this question today. For me singing is just fun. I had my fun and that’s it for me. If you’ll excuse me I would like to enjoy Candice.”

      It is good to see that Bette is making friends.
      But Candice? ! I really hope they will be only friends.

    8. I hope Tina don’t let her dreams ruin her feelings for Bette…but more importantly please please don’t let Bette fall for Candace, ugh although she sounds very nice in this story. I love the way Alice and Tina became friends, so different..Tina’s boyfriend is a asshole
