    Sonny stood up and walked away. He didn’t wait for Bette’s reply. Softly he closed the door. He walked back to the room where they had the meeting. There he saw that Tina was trying to talk the anger out of his wife. He stood in the doorway and watched the scene in front of him. He didn’t know Tina that long but he already loved her. She was considered and thoughtful. For her age she handled situations in a very mature way. Partly because of her reaction towards Bette, things didn’t explode.

    Kit felt like someone was watching her. She should’ve have know that it was Sonny..

    Sonnny approached them slowly.

    “What a mess baby.” She said to her husband.

    “No, I don’t think so. Don’t doubt your decision. You did well. I agree with you all the way. If I wouldn’t, I would’ve said so.”

    “I know sweetie. But I don’t understand my sister. Why Sonny, why did she raised her voice to Tina? Tina didn’t do anything wrong.”

    “She’s afraid, Kit. I talked to her and she told me that she’s afraid. She just sees her father again and then she has to agree with a risky surgery. That’s too much. And, don’t get me wrong now, instead of you supporting her, she felt attacked by you.”

    Kit looked at Sonny raising her eyebrows. Sonny sees that she’s about to say something.

    “Honey, please, before you say something. Think about it.”

    Tina watches the interaction between Kit and Sonny. What a beautiful interaction. Sonny stayed calm and in staying calm, he calmed Kit. She could see that. That was something to remember when Bette was upset. Little did she know that she had that same quality…….

    “Sonny, how’s Bette?”

    “She calmed down. I think you can go to her.”

    “Thank you.”

    “Baby girl before you leave, we need to go to my father. I promised him we would all come before he would go to sleep tonight.”

    “Okay, Kit.”

    “Thank you, baby girl. My sister is a fool if she doesn’t understood what gem you are.”

    “Kit,” Sonny said, tapping his wife on her arm.

    “No Sonny, this needs to be said. Afraid or not, my sister needs to understand that some things are just the way they are, period! Tina is the best thing that happened to her. I want her to treat Tina respectfully. Because she’s afraid she doesn’t have to raise her voice against her. I’m also afraid. Do I yell to you? No I don’t.  Tina, honey, if she ever treats you wrong, I swear to God, I’ll go ghetto on her ass.”

    4. Fantastic update!

      I am glad that Melvin got through the surgery and will have a good recovery.

      It is important that both the girls have people, friends, family or in case of Tina Mr.Fairbanks around them to support them in their journey in life. Bette is already learning that it is important to communicate with Tina and others. She is insecure, but is taking small steps in the right direction. I understand that it is to early for the girls to share their lives at this, moment, they both have much that they need to overcome and deal with it. They can support each other but also need time for them self.

      This is a wonderful story! And i hope you will update soon.

      It seems that Bette will open your heart completely
      Tina. If talk about the past makes you well, go ahead Bette, otherwise Tina will respect the limit of your partner … more in my opinion, a tasty
      relationship is mutual trust between partners.

      I’ve had a re- read of this great story and two years down the line want to appeal for an update if it is only in the form of an Epilogue!
      Come on, girl brush off the cobwebs from your writing talent and put pen to paper!
      I need to know why I don’t trust Marina!
      I need to know about Big Bertha’s Twin brother!
      I could go on but won’t:-)
