    Out of sync

Bette and Candace spent the entire day together and now they were sharing a late dinner. There was no pretense of this being a business meeting as Candace was explaining why she and Yolanda broke up.

Candace: We fought all the time. Well you know how Yolanda is.

    Bette: Mm – Hmm

Candace: She isn’t happy unless she’s ranting about something. She can’t abide you if you disagree with her. She won’t respect you if you don’t challenge her.

Bette: That is so true. You know she should have stayed in therapy.

As Bette is recalling the conversation in her mind she can’t help but think how much like Yolanda she herself was. She didn’t recognize it at the time otherwise she might have taken her own advice and stayed in therapy.

Bette’s cell phone rang at that point and it was Tina calling from party in Palm Springs. She excused herself and walked into the hallway to take the call. Bette and Tina try to have a conversation but the background noise at the party is so loud they can hardly hear each other. The connection starts breaking up and they finally give up. They hang up with Tina promising to call back later. Bette looks a bit exasperated when she walks back into the room where Candace is waiting. Candace immediately assumed it was a work problem having to do with the shipment of art work that had Bette distracted but Bette reassured her everything was fine.

Bette: No no … It was my girlfriend.

Candace: Oh. I didn’t know you had one.

    Bette: Why would you?

They finish eating then Bette says she needed to get back to work so she could finish up and get home to bed. She had a 7:00 am phone meeting with someone in New York. Candace mentions that she grew up in Brooklyn; ‘old-school Brooklyn before it became fashionable’. Bette quips that she grew up in Philly ‘before it was a war zone’. They pick up the trash from their take out and can’t seem to coordinate their movements without bumping into each other. Finally Bette walks Candace out, they shake hands and say goodnight. That should have been the end of it but …

      • Dee22 – if you haven’t read this story before you’re in for a ride. It will be very different from what we saw on the show. That’s a promise. Stay with me.

    1. This story makes me sad, i will read it but it is so hard. As a true Tibetter i think it is better that they break up and try to find them selves. Bette made one big mistake and she paid dearly for that.

But Tina is not the innocent poor woman, she is one evil bitch who destroyed Bette with her behaviour.

Ugh, i hate season three! !! But i will stick around.

      • Bibi28 – I know it’s hard. I won’t be reliving S3 for too much longer. The story will take a turn in a few chapters. Thanks for sticking with me.

    2. Really hated Tina in S3 and how she threatened Bette and I know that I also do not like her at the beginning of your story. Granted Bette cheated but she paid for it and let Tina walk all over her and humiliate her in public. Tina for her part, in my opinion, didn’t take any responsibility for the failure of their relationship and as it wasn’t bad enough that she dated Helena Peabody now she is working for her and helps her to invade herself with their friends. At least Bette is aware of the fact that she should not let Tina treat her like she does any longer and that she has to put herself together without Tina’s help. So looking forward to your next post, and thank you so much for posting this exceptional story.

      • as1219. I’m so glad to see you reading and commenting on this story. You were an integral part of it when I originally posted. I totally agree about how Tina treated Bette. Bette’s affair was a betrayal but Tina’s revenge was evil. She did everything in her power to break Bette and almost succeeded. As you know I can’t abide a broken Bette. She’s going to come back better than ever. :-)

    3. BETTE should have been the happiest woman in WE-HO but HELENA/TINA made her look like a fool.TINA kept the screws in BETTE until that cybersex hic-cup and now alpha BETTE is loose.TINA needs to feel safe again but she goes overboard in this season.pps thanks

      • dunnthat – So true. I hated that Bette allowed herself to be so manipulated by Tina and Helena and later by Jodi. I think that’s why I always write a very strong Bette, but her heart is her character and you can’t get away from that. Thanks for sticking with the story. If you haven’t read it before I think you will enjoy the ride once we get over these hurdles.
