Bette looked over at her partner who had put as much distance between them as the California king sized bed would allow. There was a time in their relationship when they slept so closely entwined that you couldn’t tell where one ended and the other began. The distance between them now was reflective of the state of their current relationship. Bette knew Tina wasn’t asleep by the way she was breathing but she didn’t disturb her. There would be no further conversation tonight as they were both lost in thought reliving the past.
How the hell did they get here? Bette knew only too well. Candace Jewel and a bad judgment call.
Even though Bette was not able to join the girls on their road trip to Palm Springs for the Dinah Shore weekend she still got up early to escort Tina to the Planet where everyone was meeting. On the way there Bette mentioned to Tina that she was thinking about asking a female carpenter whom she’d met at a club where Kit was performing to bid for a job at the CAC. She was preparing the biggest art show of her career.
Bette mentioned that Candace happened to be the ex-girlfriend of a woman named Yolanda whom they’d met in group therapy when Tina was pregnant with the first baby. Bette and Yolanda had a confrontation but apparently it didn’t bother Bette that Candace was her ex. Tina was supportive of her decision when Bette told her that Candace used an all-woman crew. Tina would have preferred that Bette join them for the weekend but she understood how important the show was and as was typical in their relationship Bette’s work took priority.
Later that day Bette’s assistant James announced that Candace was there to see her. At the time Bette and Tina’s relationship was a bit rocky. Though Bette had sensed a mutual attraction between her and the carpenter when they’d met she went against her better judgment and tempted fate by offering Candace the opportunity to bid.

This story makes me sad, i will read it but it is so hard. As a true Tibetter i think it is better that they break up and try to find them selves. Bette made one big mistake and she paid dearly for that.
But Tina is not the innocent poor woman, she is one evil bitch who destroyed Bette with her behaviour.
Ugh, i hate season three! !! But i will stick around.

Really hated Tina in S3 and how she threatened Bette and I know that I also do not like her at the beginning of your story. Granted Bette cheated but she paid for it and let Tina walk all over her and humiliate her in public. Tina for her part, in my opinion, didn’t take any responsibility for the failure of their relationship and as it wasn’t bad enough that she dated Helena Peabody now she is working for her and helps her to invade herself with their friends. At least Bette is aware of the fact that she should not let Tina treat her like she does any longer and that she has to put herself together without Tina’s help. So looking forward to your next post, and thank you so much for posting this exceptional story.
as1219. I’m so glad to see you reading and commenting on this story. You were an integral part of it when I originally posted. I totally agree about how Tina treated Bette. Bette’s affair was a betrayal but Tina’s revenge was evil. She did everything in her power to break Bette and almost succeeded. As you know I can’t abide a broken Bette. She’s going to come back better than ever. :-)
BETTE should have been the happiest woman in WE-HO but HELENA/TINA made her look like a fool.TINA kept the screws in BETTE until that cybersex hic-cup and now alpha BETTE is loose.TINA needs to feel safe again but she goes overboard in this season.pps thanks
dunnthat – So true. I hated that Bette allowed herself to be so manipulated by Tina and Helena and later by Jodi. I think that’s why I always write a very strong Bette, but her heart is her character and you can’t get away from that. Thanks for sticking with the story. If you haven’t read it before I think you will enjoy the ride once we get over these hurdles.
