Pieces of Time – Chapter XIX

    “I-I never got the job.”

    “Wait” I pause in anger.

“I never got the job, they decided to hire someone else.”

“So this is why you’re here? You only came back because you never got the job?”

“It isn’t like that. I know it looks that way but it isn’t.”

“Then you tell me exactly what it is?” My anger builds.

“I realized that-that I was chasing or choosing the wrong thing. I think I never got the job because we are meant to be together.”

I laugh and shake my head.

“You just don’t get to leave me here alone and expect me to welcome you back with loving arms. You have ruined that. You made it clear.”

“I can make this right, Tina. I promise you.”

    “No, no you cannot.”

“You aren’t even going to give me a second chance?”

“Why would I ever be so silly as to give you a second chance? So you can run off on me again as soon as something exciting comes along again?”

    “I made a mistake. I’m human.”

“You don’t care about me Danielle, you’re only here because you have no one else to crawl to.”

“Look Tina, can we sleep on this and talk more in the morning?”

“I’m done talking, I’ve pretty much figured out what kind of person you are. I don’t want you to talk to me anymore and when you return to LA, find another job because I will be replacing you.”

“I know you are very angry right now and I understand you need sometime to cool down, so I am going to let you do that.”

“Just get out.” I say turning towards the patio doors again. “Just leave.”

I see the door open and Danielle appear through it.

I stand with my arms crossed leaning against the wall.

She walks pass me without saying a word, her facial expression floats with guilt.

I catch the door before it closes and step in to see Tina sitting at the edge of her bed.

    “Are you alright?” I ask.

    “Yeah. I’m fine.”

“So what the fuck is she doing back here?” I ask.

“She never got that job.” Tina replies.

“So that is why she is here?”

“She wants to make it up to me.”

    1. Hi Tory,

Just read the the chapter. How stupid is Danielle to expect Tina to forgive her after the way she treated her.?! She fucked up big time and she needs to go…

Rachel, what can i say? She overheard a conversation and decide that Bette must be hurt by sleeping with Shane. They were both wrong to do that and saying it was under influence of drugs and alcohol, no excuse.

But Bette is wrong too to sleep with Tina before breaking up with Rachel, but i am a diehard Tibette fan and happy they will try to fix their relationship.

Looking forward to the next chapter!!!

    2. I think this story was very good. Nice introduction of new characters Danielle and Rachel. Danielle even though in her late thirties seems to be a bit immature or really a narcisitic personality. If she had been smart, she would have sat down with Tina and given her a complete picture of the job process would be and the time frame expected. If she was going to have to be on the phone for business purposes, then she should have explained that to Tina in terms of why, how often, how much time would be involved. Who wants to be on vacation with a lover who is using the phone frequently and trying to hide that use after they have indicated that they would not use the phone. Of course it was easily predictable that Danielle would not stay in Tina’s bed for long. I enjoyed the story…
