"Facial contusion and cut lip, full recovery expected with no scaring.." Bette kept her tone as even as possible.
"I… I was struck and my face hit a wall.." Tina sobbed quietly.
Tightening her grip on her bar of soap, Bette decided to halt her inventory of Tina’s injuries for a second to compose herself. She looked at the swirling water around their feet and deliberately and meticulously resumed the rubbing, turning and rolling of the soap which she still held in her hands.
Then soapy and slippery palms got to work once again, a few silent moments later, starting this time, around her neck and shoulders.
With a slow, deliberate, familiar and incredibly tender touch, the slick hands drew gentle patterns over her shoulders, her flawless back, down the slight curve of her spin, up the gentle slopes of her sides, over the roundness of her bottom and down the back of her shapely legs.
Under the pretence of cleansing, Bette’s hands caressed, explored and rediscovered a familiar plain.
Bette moved around Tina, thoroughly covering her body with soap and rinsing away.
The blonde welcomed the reprieve from the consequences of her request. She stood there and enjoyed the wondrous sensations of Bette’s hands on her body, her gentle care and patient understanding.
She was listening to the sound of the shower and focusing on the feel of the suds sliding down her body when she felt Bette return to her position in front of her.
The vet was clearly focused on her task, following the movements of her hands as she gently applied a barely-there touch all over Tina’s body.
When Bette faced Tina once again, she withdrew the contact of her hands on Tina’s skin, but returned almost immediately with the light tracing of a lone finger. Tina watched as Bette followed the contours of the cloud like pattern of black purple and brown bruises which spread across her abdomen.
"Bruising to the stomach and sides….” she paused catching her lips in between her teeth, “…and two cracked ribs.”
The vet’s voice wavered with her next words. One finger became two then three and finally a whole palm made contact with Tina’s torso again. The hand moved upward slowly, sliding easily with the soapy layer which coated it.

So 27 was the antipenultimate, huh? Still, wish there were many more….
This chapter is really well written, could feel the intensity and nervousness of it all. Especially the interaction between those two, and the reliving of the nightmare. Only one more chapter…boo
As Jackiet said, “only 1 more chapter, BOO,” I agree totally. Felt the pain and anguish both of them were feeling during that shower. Really hate to see this story end, maybe you can give us more on their budding relationship and see if Bette goes to US with Tina if she decides to leave earlier than she had planned or even if she decides to live in Africa with Bette. Give us more about their relationship and budding love. Just reaching because I hate to see it end. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful story.

Thanks for the chapter. Glad that Tina is really going to recover and Bette is making sure that she knows that even with the bruises and scars-that she is still beautiful, sexy and wanted.
I’m so glad Tina has Bette there so support her through her healing process. It isn’t easy for either of them. I could feel the anguish Bette was feeling as she explained to Tina what happened to her. Even though she hasn’t used the word yet I think it’s apparent that she feels a deep love for Tina.
I’m so going to be sad when this ends but so wonderful writing. Thank you for this story.

Kins!… you just made me do some happy dance … :D LOL… somehow knowing that this is NOT the last chapter is so exciting, THOUGH after that when realized that means only one more chapter to go makes me kinda in blue :-( Anyway… this chapter is so beautifully painful … or painfully beautiful eh?? .. :-p the way you play with words always amazed me! even simple scene as showering (pure showering! ;-p) also become some great scene in your hand. Amazing! … ^_^ I do hope the next chapter will be covering the future for them too.. if not, well.. maybe you can do that in the prologue?! :-p LOL.. with all due respect Kins, it’s your call as it’s your privilege as the writer! ;-) I’ll stick around for any update for you for sure. BTW one year older not always wiser as wise person with young heart is not an easy one to find! ;-)

Wonderful follow up Kins – sorry I’m so late in catching up to this one. Are you _sure_ this isn’t the antepenultimate chapter (hahaha)??? I want to 2nd Tibetter24 – It feels like there might be a wee bit more before their/your journey comes to a close. Not that I want everything wrapped up in a neat little package but I’m so curious about the fallout back at the foundation (not to mention what became of Shane, Augustine, Ellie…). Recounting the extent of Tina’s injuries was hard to read but I loved how sweet and caring Bette is for her here.
