    Bette: “I need my bedroom too.” Social assistant: “look Miss Porter…, think about this conversation and let me know as soon as possible your decision.” Bette left the housing office anxious; she has been sleeping in Tina’s bedroom for a few months now. On her side, Tina was happy having Bette in her life… and

    Bette: “I need my bedroom too.”

    Social assistant: “look Miss Porter…, think about this conversation and let me know as soon as possible your decision.”

    Bette left the housing office anxious; she has been sleeping in Tina’s bedroom for a few months now.

    On her side, Tina was happy having Bette in her life… and bed…, though there were no problems with the rest of the housemates; she would like to have more privacy with her girlfriend, but she felt a little worry to tell Bette to move together into an off-campus apartment, she didn’t want to make her girlfriend feel trapped by her.

    This afternoon after coming back from the on-campus housing office, Bette met Tina for lunch and told her about the conversation with the social assistant. 

    Bette: “it looks like I have to sleep more frequently in my dorm.”

    Tina: (disappointed) “is that what you want?”

    Bette: “course not…, I want to stay with you… in your bedroom, to cuddle you in bed…, to make love to you every night… well… and every day too, I love to wake up in your arms, and share this wonderful intimacy that we have.”

    Tina: “then…, why you have to go back to your bedroom…, why we have to follow their rules when we can live together off-campus and nobody will question our actions…, after all…, we are adults, right?”

    Bette: “yeah…, you’re right…, I’ll like that…, but how much will cost an apartment close to the university…, I heard that housing is very expensive off campus around MIT.”

    Tina: “but we can put together our money for housing and rent an apartment off-campus.”

    Bette: “I don’t know if that could be enough…, at least my contribution won’t be that much.”

    Tina: “well…, what I pay for this bedroom could be plenty for renting an apartment somewhere else.”

    Bette: “okay, we have to look for a place.”

    After three days searching for a place, along with Tina, Bette has realized that the closest to the university, the more expensive the housing is; even the rent of a studio apartment was out of her possibilities; she didn’t have the money to pay half of the rent, and she wouldn’t allow Tina to pay most of the lease, which she already told her girlfriend; another solution would be to live in a sorority house, but those groups were too boisterous for their taste and study habits.

        Yes, I’m going step by step, but I have made the commitment to getting well.
        I have also made a commitment with myself of never leave a story unfinished, so I will finish this (as painful it is for me) before I post the new one.
