“In your defence I had NO idea what I was getting myself into. I had no concept of just what it meant to be Bette or to know her or to just be in a club with her”

“I don’t know “ Tina said honestly “ I am not lacking in self confidence but ignorance really was bliss in my case. All I really knew was that the night I met her – she could have had any woman she wanted. I was not that innocent – I could see how women looked at her and she gave a couple of the more stalker types the brush off. But it took a while for me to see what it meant to be Bette Porter and all the stories and all the mythology. All I knew was that she hated the image – she hated being seen as a piece of meat and she hated herself for acting the way she did”
