    Soul Mates – Chapter 4

Tina quickly raised her head to look up at the smirking brunette. She waited to see if Bette gave any further confirmation as to whether or not she was joking but the brunette simply turned back to face the water. Tina shook her head and smiled, like she said, warped sense of humor.

Silence enveloped them for a few moments as Bette tossed a stone at the water, watching it skip across the water twice before sinking into the depths below. Tina couldn’t help the smile and tease that followed.

    "Still suck at that, huh?"

Bette turned her head and cocked an eyebrow at the smirking blonde, watching as she walked over and picked up a small stone. Tina expertly tossed it and watched as it easily skipped across the water six times before sinking.

Bette pursed her lips at the sight and mumbled, "Show off"

Clearly proud of herself, Tina’s smile widened as she slipped off her shoes, walked over to sit beside Bette and let her legs dangle over the edge of the pier. She angled her feet so that her toes dipped into the water, she smiled at the cool sensation.

Bette kept her head facing forward but looked sideways at the blonde, stealing a glance at the oblivious woman beside her. Tina was so entranced with the water, smiling as she swayed her feet back and forth and played with the water much like she did when they were kids. Her hands were resting on the edge of the pier, her body was slightly leaning forward and her head was tilted down so that she could watch her feet move along the water.

They sat in a comfortable silence, neither woman really wanting to ruin the rare peaceful moment between them. Bette discreetly glanced at Tina again, biting the edge of her lip as she thought about whether to speak or not. Lucky for her, the blonde beat her to it.

"Bette . ." Tina said softly, her eyes still fixed on her feet and the water below "About last night . ."

The brunette had expected this, she even wanted to talk about it herself but now that the conversation had basically begun, Bette couldn’t shake the nerves running through her body. Her heart pounded rapidly against her chest as she slowly turned her head to look at Tina. She patiently waited for the blonde to continue, too afraid to speak and ruin anything Tina had to say.

    2. So sorry for your loss, just remember the good times. The story is really wonderful and you are pacing it just fine. You did however leave us hangin’ just a little and I understand but, still I wanted just a bit more. Wish they would admit to wanting each other again and never having stopped loving each other. helena should have contacted Tina before announcing the engagement, that was totally unfair. But in the end helena will have egg on her face, at least I hope. Thanks for taking the time to post while in mourning, it is really appreciated.
