    Soul Mates – Prologue

The sun was high in the sky, it’s rays reflecting on the blue ocean water and caused it to sparkle as if millions of diamonds lay on the bottom. It was a relatively peaceful afternoon, no other sounds except for crashing waves and the carefree laughter of two 10 year old girls.

"Oh, Bette! Look at this one!"

Bette was crouched on the sandy floor looking for seashells when she turned her head and looked at her best friend. She was a little smaller than Bette with short blonde hair and a much lighter complexion, a creamy contrast to Bette’s mocha skin.

She was smiling wide and gently brushing sand off something in her hand. Bette excitedly got to her feet, the warm summer breeze blowing her curly brown hair into her face as she ran over to the equally excited blonde.

"Let me see! Let me see!" Bette squealed as she looked down into her friend’s hands. They were cupped together and hiding something in between.

The little blonde giggled as she opened up her hands and revealed a pink and ivory colored seashell. The colors were perfectly swirled together and it had the most beautiful pearl-like shine that neither girl had ever seen before.

Bette gasped, her eyes widened as did her smile while she gently ran her fingers over the smooth lines of the shell.

"Oh my God, Tina. It’s beautiful"

Tina smiled and nodded, "Let’s put it in the bag"

Bette twisted to the side and pulled forward a bag she had resting on her hip. She opened the bag and Tina carefully placed the shell inside to join the others already in there.

The sky began to rumble, Bette lifted her head and squinted at the sky as grey clouds began to form. She looked back down to Tina, her lips pursed. Their day of hunting for seashells was over.

"We should head back before the storm hits"

Tina nodded, smiling as Bette held out her hand for the blonde to take. As their fingers intertwined, both girls felt a little tingle. It was something they only felt with each other, something that separated them from the rest.

    1. Not sure if I’ve commented on one of your stories before – but I have been reading and enjoying! Had to comment on this one because I was excited to see that someone else also thought that this movie/story would be made even better by replacing B&T as the main characters…I confess that there are several of my favorite movies that I want to do that with, shhhh ;) Anyway, thx for this and I’m definitely looking forward to see how your Sweet Home B&T unfolds!! PPVS

    2. so cute! sweet home is one of my favorites. i agree the story line fits with b&t perfectly as the main characters. i can already imagine the banter between them. wonder if you’re goin’ to incorporate the cat with the scorched tail in your version. lol, loved that part.
