The Gathering – 01.98 – Like Me Now – Intro to the King Pt 5 – Meaning

“Sarah that was SARAH! As in Asha Scott’s Sarah? Jersey girl’s girlfriend?” Lara blurted out, and a faint knock on the door, and Shane asked if everything was ok, Jayden said yes, that they needed a moment. Jayden was wide eyed with surprise, her father had hired a ***** lawyer, how low could the ***** go?

“Are you shitting me?” Jayden said, and Lara shook her head. How was she going to testify Friday? How, Sarah would know who she was in an instant, it would get back to whoever on the east coast, and then she’d have to run again. No, don’t think about it, there is a way out of this, there always is.

“Like we needed this. This could ruin everything….” Lara said, Jayden kissed her and motioned for her to sit down on Sam’s very expensive leather couch. Lara did, and she sighed at Jayden’s touch, then she realized she was taking her pulse, ***** nurse. Lara grunted at her and Jayden looked at her, meeting her eyes and then kissing her on the cheek.

“I’ll come get you when she’s gone, you stay here.” Jayden said in her motherly voice, that she usually reserved for patients and Jesse, Lara’s clear eyes were still filled with panic. She did feel better, she was glad that Jayden knew about her ‘other’ life, it made things so much simpler. Now it was making it so much more complicated, what else could go wrong?

“Uh huh.” Lara said and Jayden stepped from the room, grumbling about bad luck, and her father’s rather odd choice in lawyers.

Friday morning, the court time was for 11am, it was now 8am and everyone had already gathered at Sam and Shane’s house, all dressed in their finest suits. The only one missing was Rosita. The lawyer had called, she was on her way, she’d just spoken with Jo Wheaton, who was also going over. To lend moral support, and she was, after all, a well known FBI agent. Having her sitting behind Samantha and Shane wasn’t such a bad

    thing.

Jo’s other ‘comrades’ as Amy had put it were on their way, Darci Haim-Cyr, Emma Scott, and Shelby Doyle were all meeting their husbands at the court house. Rosita had thought that having ‘straight’ couples there as well as ‘alternative’ couples was a wonderful idea.
