The brunette was entranced by one of her favorite paintings when suddenly someone walked up behind her; grabbed her around the waist and whispered ’hello beautiful’ in her ear. She recognized the male voice immediately and turned to find the most amazing hazel green eyes gazing down at her.
“Marcus? Oh my goodness. This is a surprise. Peggy didn’t tell me you would be here.”
“I just heard that she was back in New York so I called her earlier this afternoon. When she told me you were in town I just had to see you. I hope you don’t mind me crashing your party.”
“It’s not my party but I’m thrilled to see you. Have you seen Peggy yet?”
“Yes I ran into her on my way in.”
“I’ve been following your career. Winner of the Whitney Biennial … that’s impressive.”
“Well I owe it all to you Beauty. I probably would never have been discovered if you hadn’t taken a chance on me as one of your emerging artists.”
“Well I know talent when I see it but it was just a matter of time before someone would have recognized it in you. I’m very proud of you Marcus. So what’s next?”
“I’m getting ready for an international multi-country group show. I will be touring for the next two years.”
“That’s a long time to be away.”
“I know but it’s an opportunity that I can’t pass up.”
“I’m happy for you. We must get together so you can tell me all about it.”
“I was hoping that we could have lunch tomorrow.”
“Sure. Do you want me to come to your studio?”
“Actually before we do that I have something personal to talk to you about. I share my studio space. I’d rather we talk in private.”
“OK. Why don’t you come to the loft? I’ll prepare lunch.”
“Since when do you cook?”
“Since never but I’ve actually had some lessons recently. I’m getting pretty good at it. Besides I didn’t say I was cooking. I said I would ‘prepare’ lunch. Douglas has already taken care of cooking for me. He has fresh food delivered daily. I just have to heat and serve so don’t be such a smart ass especially if you are going to ask me for a favor.” Bette noticed that Marcus’ expression changed from joking around to being more serious so she asked if everything was OK.

Alright!…Your author’s note cleared that up!..I’m all for twists and turns!..Love how you threw the conversation about the donor disagreement from Season 1 in here…Tina needs to want a monogamous relationship first so she and Bette will be on the same page to pursue a relationship..Nice chapter and loved the interaction with TiBette..Now they can get to know each other a little better in the next chapter!
Great update. Oh wow, they had THE conversation and didn’t get hurt over it. At least that will be out of the way if something does happen and they do get together and make those life altering decisions regarding having a family. Happy they are having a great time together enjoying their time together and learning more about each other. This is a very interesting story. Thanks for posting.

It`s going a bit slow but I like this sweet and genuine Bette so I`m going to keept at it a little bit longer:)
Really pleased to have some 1 to 1 time with Bette and Tina and very nice how the Donor conversations were introduced., far better than the confrontational way in the Show.
Glad they are together in the loft and look forward to your next post.
It was a very good chapter, and I’m glad that they’re getting to know each other better. and the easy-going conversation between them.
Well it seems the time is the key to this story, Bette and Tina are not emotionally in the same place. and then soon they live in two different part.
I’ will waiting ;) It will also be good to read how their lives turn out.

Interesting to see their views on marriage and children. They have to be on the same page before they can go forward in a romantic fashion. But I am a huge TiBetter, so I want them to realize their fates sooner rather than too late. Excellent chapter!
I quite agree with everyone here how the donor story was introduced. Unlike in the show, I love the softer side of Bette in this story, not sure when Jodies attack on her will resurface? Lets hope Tina and her connect will she is staying at Bette’s loft.
Yes! I know that bette would have nothing with Dylan or Winnie.
Through their conversations talking about how each has its vision of life, and even disagreeing with certain matters, they already give beginning to the future have a solid relationship. I loved this chapter.
