CHAPTER 281
Narration of President Bette Kennard Porter
It’s a bit like old times in my apartment. Kit is sitting on the sofa channel hoping and shouting various pieces of news from what she is seeing. I am actually trying to get Ella to settle down for the night. Why I am not leaving it to her nanny is something I have no clue about – especially as I am also supposed to be getting changed and so far all I have done is take a shower, do my hair and that’s about it. I am just in my robe and I am aware that the clock is ticking away and the President is in danger of being late. I hear some one arrive and a few minutes later the door to the nursery opens and Alice strolls in – she at least is ready for this function
“Hey there”
“Hey there – Ella its Auntie Alice “
“Al” Ella says and waves at Alice. Alice comes across and kisses Ella
“She is getting more like you every day and that is a truly scary thing”
“Why ?”
“Because in 30 years time she is going to rule the world probably – if she has your charm and brains to go alongside your looks the human race really does not know what it is about to hit them”
“And that is a bad thing ?”
“No – just saying that it might be a little unexpected to those who think they run the world at the moment “
“So full of crap “ I tell Alice “That’s good to see – how are things with you?”
“Since I had my heart broken by a kid who still should be at college ?“
“Yeah – that one “
Alice sits down and shrugs “I miss her – I would be lying if I said that I didn’t and she was fun to have around and we had a good time”
“But ?”
Alice puffs out her cheeks “But I was day dreaming if I thought that I could have a settled relationship with someone so young. It was good while it lasted but it was never going to last “

Thanks for the update – really appreciate it. Have a great vacation and enjoy your self totally – don’t even think about writing. But when you return to the Lwing please please please have Bette show this woman the door fast.
I can’t wait to see what happens when Holly arrives. Even with all the protection Bette has I’m concerned that she will somehow get to Bette. I just hope Bette is prepared to put her in her place…

Hey AllyE, Many thanks for another fabulous chapter of this political drama.I love how you have kept it true to the characters and yet have created this very different world for them all to inhibit.I love these long and interesting conversation between all the gang so it was great to have Bette, Kit and Alice sort through some of the whole Holly debacle.More please.Thank you so much for this awesome adventure.Your Loyal Fan and Friend.
