“Baby, come on, you know that Lara is never a great match for Bette, they are too alike.” Dana rolls her eyes. “No offense, Lara.”
“None taken.” Lara sits beside Bette and Alice, digging her pancake, trying hard not to join this awkward discussion.
Lara Perkins, with a beautiful curly red hair, the only three-star female cooking chef in California, she’s a nice woman, never putting on airs, Bette likes her much than her old best friend Alice.
“I don’t fucking care! Bette Porter needs to get laid! She’s been hiding for too long, never went to a bar and barely hung out with us to the HIT, sometimes I feel like she has changed her desire from women to men.”
Bette and Dana both roll their eyes.
A woman walks to the table, intentionally sways her butts way bigger than before, only hope to catch Bette’s eyes. But the brunette simply just gives a short glance, then her attention is right back on to her food.
“Hey, Nadia! You are more of a woman than that fellow.” Alice points at Bette. “That fellow wouldn’t tell me a thing.”
Bette sighs. “Please, Al…”
Alice snorts. “Oh, now you’ve decided to talk to me.”
“Al, I’m really not in a good mood…”
“You’re never in a good mood, Porter! Come on! You’re a detective! Show us the solemn police officer attitude.”
Bette shakes her head. “There is no such thing.”
“Of course, there is…” Alice shrugs, seeing Bette is no fun at all, she turns her head to Dana. “Ooh, do you know Kelly?”
“Kelly who?” Lara says while sipping her juice.
“Bette and I’s old friend in high school, Kelly Wentworth, of course.”
Bette’s hand stops her dead in her track, hanging in the middle of the air.
Dana shrugs. “Not really know, why?”
“She was married to a very wealthy man, Adam Fremont, the billionaire, but I’ve heard that they had a divorce, and Kelly has lost everything.”
All of them except Bette make the sound of ohhh.
“How come?” Dana first asks.
“You know that famous criminal group? The Coopers?” Alice says excitingly.
“Yeah.” They say at the same time.
“Well, seems like not all of the criminals in the Cooper organization were all being arrested, there was a saying goes that someone big from this criminal world was still hiding in the somewhere, planning to commit bad things.”
