Bette sighs, her lover is so right.
Thinking back, when she saw Adele bullying others, there was one time, when Bette really wanted to stand out for those victims, to help them to not fear her again, but by Adele’s threat and her cowardness, she had no choice but to bow to authority.
With that, cause lots of people got hurt, especially the one she loves the most.
In the past, one of the brunette’s dream was becoming a journalist, to write down the injustice of the world, telling people the truth, but somehow she became a detective, thanks to that, she could meet the love of her life again and made an amend for what she’s done in the past.
Speaking of Adele, Bette has seen her fate on the news, the director was being abandoned by the movie industry for numerous illegal things she has done, including bribed, sexual harassment to the male actors, embezzling public funds…and so on, she was no longer a member of any movie company and would never be allowed to enter the shooting scene anymore, what a pity.
Deep in her own thought, the name of Adele comes out to Bette’s mind, suddenly she realized there’s something she needs to clarify.
“T?”
“Yes, baby?”
“Since that everything is solved, all the bad guys who still involved in the Cooper are all being captured, which is a good thing…what’s next?”
Tina shrugs her uninjured shoulder.
“Nothing, what will happen to the criminal world is no longer my business, Faye Buckley was my last target, what will happen to the others or the Chinese are not my jurisdiction, I’ve done enough and want to have a clean end.”
Bette smiles, finally.
“So it’s the end?”
Tina’s head nods firmly. “It’s the end.”
“Alright then, if there’s no more secret needed to be hidden, mind to tell me what the last card meant?”
“Last card?”
Bette takes out a poker card from her pocket and puts it on the table, facing up, it is the Joker, surely it was not the same card Tina used, but the picture of the clown was the same.
“You kept that in your pocket all the time?” Tina raises her eyebrows.
“I have tried to figure out what it means, but I cannot be certain,” Bette shrugs. “The Joker, last card among the eleven cards, I’ve guessed all the other cards except this one, the only one I could not figure what it was…Well, I bet Faye Buckley has the same problem.”

So the bad guys get their just reward – prison and a long time. In the end Marina is free and Faye is in jail. Ben is free and his sister Candace is in jail. A life time of pursuit by Randy/Tina/Justine has been completed and Bette is still by her side. Nice chapter…. thanks for this.

Great chapter, now, we know who was behind the Dean’s drug dealer and the Cooper empire.
Buckey will live a hell after she met these two persons, if a little bit of decency still remains in her heart, she will be moved by this encounter, and she will realize that what Candace has done and the condemn her daughter will face is all her own fault as egoistic mother, she pushed her daughter to the limit.
What happens with Aaron and Phillips? Is Tina going to visit Aaron too, where is Shane, will she be able to live in the USA or would she need to go back to Mexico?
Very nice story, now we want to know what awaits in the future for Bette and Tina.

The last card has been played and all of the bad guys are in prison.
How can someone turn from loving and kind to such a heartless and cruel person? I am almost feeling sorry for Faye, almost, she lost and have to pay for the crimes she committed and how she dragged her daughter along with it. Yes i feel a little bit sorry for Candace, but in her hunger for her mothers love she made grave mistakes and is now punished for the crimes she admitted. I do understand why Bette felt a little twinge in her heart at what has become Candace’s fate. Candace was really in love with her and Bette couldn’t give her heart because it always belonged to Tina.
Goold old James, the assistent who had Tina’s back since she was young. I could have known he was the one to help and protect Tina.
I loved the interaction between him and Bette.
It makes me feel sad to know this story is almost finished. It was quite a journey you took us this last year.
But i am looking forward to the next chapter!!!
