“Peter, I really appreciate you and Lilly being here and taking care of Alex for us.” Bette smiled at the older man that had become a father figure in her life.
“Are you kidding? We’re having a great time, and seeing you so happy with your family brings me a lot joy Bette. Even under the circumstances we’re enjoying this time with you. Tina is delightful, and having Alex to ourselves is a bonus.” Peter smiled back at the woman that he’d grown to love like a daughter over the years, and though Bette knew his heart she still wanted to be sure they weren’t imposing.
“You’re sure you don’t mind keeping him overnight and until brunch? He’s an early riser. He’s not usually fussy as long as his Boo Bear is in easy reach when he wakes up, but being he’s in a strange bed he might be a bit disoriented. If he gives you any problems just call me; no matter the time.”
“Don’t worry about your little man Bette, he’ll be fine. I’m an early riser too. I’m usually up for hours before Lilly even starts to stir in the morning. It’ll be good to have the company while I drink my coffee and read the morning paper.”
“Tina’s the early riser. She runs five miles most every morning before the sun comes up and she’s usually gone to work by the time I wake up. We don’t plan to be out too late tonight but we rarely get to sleep in with a baby and we’ve been apart for two months so we’re taking advantage of this little vacation.”
“Two months … really? Then I imagine you have some making up or should I say ‘making out’ with that beautiful lady of yours.” Peter winked at Bette.
“You have no idea.” Bette winked back not at all embarrassed by Peter’s inference to their sex life. She and Tina really needed to get over this dry spell and Bette was determined that they work things out. Whatever happened with the film both Bette and Tina had agreed that they wouldn’t allow it to spoil their reunion. “Speaking of which she and I need to get going. The car will be here in a couple of hours and we need to get ready.” Bette grabbed the key card for Tina’s room and Alex’s bag then headed back to Peter and Lilly’s room.
