The Perfect Getaway – Chapter 6

Brian of course began to laugh all over again when he realized what had happened. Tina laughed too but only for a second when Bette shot her a look. There was a time to laugh and then there wasn’t, this was one of those times and Tina could easily read the expression on her wife’s face. That didn’t make the situation any less funny however and the blonde pressed her lips together to make sure a laugh didn’t slip out.

Bette swam over to the boat without a word. She was a little irritated with the situation to say the least, she hated being embarrassed or being made fun of. The fact that Tina wanted to laugh only served to upset Bette further.

She made her way to the ladder of the boat and pulled herself out of the water. She sat on the edge of the boat facing the other direction, her feet dipped inside the cool ocean and stared out at the open sea.

Tina watched her sulk with a smile, shaking her head at how incredibly childish her wife could be sometimes. It was as cute as it was funny, except of course when she gave attitude to anyone around. For the time being Tina just let her be, giving Brian a warning look as they gave their attention to the playful dolphin.

The rest of the day didn’t go too well for Bette. She sulked for a long time, her attitude slipping on her wife a time or two to the point where Tina became irritated as well.

Sometime around noon, Bette even gave up trying to talk to Tina about Andrea. If it wasn’t someone interrupting, Tina was much too upset at Bette to want to talk privately. All in all, they both kept to themselves and decided to enjoy the day as much as possible.

They couldn’t reach the docks soon enough.

As their boat pulled up to the shore, Tina was one of the first to get off. Bette was right behind her, desperate to make amends. She hated how off their vacation was and wanted nothing more than to have a day like the one they shared previously.

    1. Great chapter. Bette can sometimes go off the rails and this was a doozy. When she can get her mind in gear she will do and say the right thing for Tina and herself. Thanks for posting.

    2. Ditto JP …. it’s all in the timing and oh boy did Bette get it wrong …majorly wrong..this was perfectly written Liah… the hill ahead will be hard to climb… but in your capable hands it’ll be sensational, I’m sure…Happy New Year to you ..Kx

    3. Sorry, I’m laughing at some of the comments. Could a vacation get any worse for our couple. I wonder what would have happened had they not had all the disruptions… just saying. Bette’s reactions are normal for someone who didn’t have both parents lovingly support her. We all have our foibles and fears. But, I’m quite sure that in the end she’ll be able to get it together for Tina’s sake. Thanks for an awesome posting!
