The Real Tibette – Christmas 2023

And these shoes. The last thing to come off that night . . .

And yes, she remembered now that Tina had spent most of her very substantial bonus buying the cabin. The rest went straight into the kids’ trust funds. Which led Bette back to Sasha.

Bette reflected on their daughter’s ‘better to ask forgiveness than permission’ mindset. Was she spoiled? Bette didn’t think so. Was it youngest-child syndrome? Maybe. Claire had asked Bette and Tina a while ago how they felt about the children’s growing independence. Bette had replied honestly, saying she was sad every time she noticed Sasha pulling away. Tina agreed, saying the temptation was to reward regressive behaviour because it felt nice. But they had to guide Sasha towards taking responsibility. And thinking before she acted.

Bette sighed, and was just about to check her phone when it pinged.

Everyone’s telling me you took Sol for a walk because he has diarrhoea??? xx

‘Oh God,’ Bette muttered. ‘Really, Alice?’

Bette started to type a reply when the phone pinged again.

Told T ur out with Sol bc he has *row of poop emojis*

That was from Alice. Bette replied to that with a thumbs-up, then replied to Tina with Back soon xx

    ***

Tina looked at her phone, saw Bette’s reply and frowned. Her marital radar was telling her that was very much a ‘you’ll never make this stand up in court’ text. But before she could get sucked into a vortex of speculation, Runa came up and beamed at her.

    ‘What?’ asked Tina.

    ‘She’s here. Her car’s outside.’

    Tina’s eyebrows shot up. ‘AB?’

    ‘AB, baby!’

Tina and Runa grabbed each other’s hands and squeed like they were twelve years old. Then Tina quickly texted Bette, to tell her to get back if she wanted to meet Annette, then rushed into the hallway and joined Runa primping herself in the large mirror above the console table with the kids’ advent calendar on it.

    ‘Where’s Bette?’ Runa asked.

‘Oh, I have no idea,’ said Tina, dabbing the corner of her mouth with a tissue from the box in the hall. ‘Out with Solly is all I know. But she better get back soon!’

    ***

Bette got the text just a second before the vet came out and got her. She got up and went into the examination room, praying this was straightforward – and, like a Christmas miracle, it was! Solly lay curled on a blanket on the table, looking a little sorry for himself, and the vet handed Bette a small silver kidney dish containing a very pretty diamond ring.

    2. Hey Pal,

Happy holidays to you also from across the big blue pond!

Interesting party with lots of extraordinary guests. Shame Bette couldn’t get to meet AB – but maybe will anyway.

Wow, Shane popping the BIG question. Hope this time its forever & they’ll both be happy together.

Gotta say that Sol might want to rethink about hanging around Sasha in the future – that girl is dangerous to be around!!

Thanks for another great glimpse into the wonderful life of Bette & Tina & their awesome family.

Thinking though that there should be a quick follow-up chapter about their Christmas Day though!! Ha!!

      Thanks for the treat.

      • Hi pal! YOu’ve just reminded me that I owe you an email! Oops. Really dropped the ball – sorry.

Thanks for reading this. And yes, I am moulding Sasha into being Trouble with a capital T. No fun if it’s all too easy, is there?? ;-)

I hope you’re well and that you’ve had a good time over the holidays.

    3. Sasha, Sasha, Sasha! Of course she will be the one telling tales of Mama T and Mama B to her children. What a pleasant surprise this Christmas night to find your story. And then to have Shane pop the question! Thank you for keeping the spirt of Tibette alive. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the readers of this site. Donate please!

      • Hi majic! Hope you’re well! Thanks so much for reading this story and for commenting. It means a lot to me. :-)

Y’know, it’s a real dilemma, writing this story, whether to skip ahead in time or not. In some ways, I’d really like to. I’me very drawn to the idea of writing B&T’s life with adult kids and grandkids etc. But then you end up skirting around the ‘d’ word and I don’t ever want to write that.

Agree about supporting this site! Hope you had a good time over the holidays!
