    The Roommates – 2nd Dimension: Chapter 29

And I missed you so much. I couldnt hear your laugh any more or see your bouncy little curls. I really did miss you, Bette. But I felt like I couldnt come back here. I was at my wits end. And I didnt fight your father for custody because I figured he would drag me though the mud and make like miserable for me and you in the end. So, I just stayed away and tried to focus on getting better. Getting healthier. Taking control of my life. , said Janice.

So, did you?, asked Bette, her voice weak and shaky.

Janice smiled lightly and nodded, her arm around her daughters shoulders.

I did, Bette. I took a few classes and got back into the swing of things. I started my own marketing firm back in New York. Im doing pretty well now. And.David and I got married. It wasnt anything bigjust a Justice of The peace to make us official.

Married? You got married?, asked Bette, feeling left out once more.

Yes, Bette. But dont think I forgot about you. I didnt want a full out wedding. Largely because you couldnt be there. I couldnt share this with you. You really do mean the world to me, sweetheart., said Janice, stroking her daughters soft curls.

Bette was quiet for a moment, enjoying the long-lost feel of her mothers soothing touch.

    Im sorry., she finally whispered.

    What?, asked Janice.

Im sorry.Im sorry for disrespecting you. I shouldnt have done that., said Bette, her head still bent, her eyes focused on her hands.

Janice hugged her only child close to her and said, Its okay. I understand how angry you are. Im sorry for making you feel this way.

Bette sniffed and felt another set of tears made their appearance. She cried for the nights shed spent longing for this woman. For the heartache and pain shed felt. For the scars that had been left and the confusion now fluttering around her mind.

As she felt Bettes tears, Janice shed her own drops of remorse. Remorse for the smiles shed missed. Remorse for the Birthdays and Christmases that had passed in her absence. Remorse for the mess shed made of her childs emotions and the strain on the young womans spirit that was so very visible on this Thursday morning.

I love you, Bette. I love you so much, sweetheart., Janice whispered, as she held Bette close to her heart.

Bette was too choked up to speak and simply nodded in response. And for the first time in a long time, she really believed her mothers words were true.

    1. Her mother explains herself and makes it almost acceptable.
Was the word – p*ss? It seems a bit coarse for you!
Is Bette going to tell Janice about Tina? I don’t think she should, how can she trust her?
Thanks for posting another chapter of this touching story.

    2. MTS… great job as usual…glad they talked and bette listened… only one thing bothers me… THE MELVIN will be home soon… and will the shit hit the fan then…. i hope bette tells her mom about her and tina…. thanks again looking for the next ch

    3. I’ve just read about 6 of the last chapters, and it’s just amazing. I am loving this story so much. Please keep it going. I love the progress our girls are making, and the incorporation of Bette’s family. Great work, please keep it coming.

    4. just ot done reading all of your story. have absolutely loved it. i love how it started at school. a starting place for many of us. loved the no sex thingy. i think having bette tell her mom about tina will be good. also when mel finds out about out girls, mom can save the day, as usua. post soon

    5. I’m glad her mother got the chance to explain and that Bette is releasing some of the pain she’s been carrying around all those years. Tina’s has and is doing a good job but I think Bette needs her mom to fully help her heal. (I wouldn’t trust her though)

    6. A Moving update! Reconcilliation is never easy but worth it. You have ways with your words. Looking forward to the next update. And the NO SEX thing was just too hillarious!

    7. I don’t buy Janice’s explanation. I can empathize with her pain, confusion, and lack of esteem. But since she saw Bette from afar, she should’ve attempted to reach/contact her–even with cards. There are no excuses—just forgiveness.

    8. MTS,
      Bravo!
