    Tina answers the knocking at her door.
    (B&T beginning set on collge campus)

    Previously~~~~~~~~~

    (Tina has just called Bette, distraught that she yelled to her parents that she was pregnant. As they talk on the phone, Tina hears knocking at her door. )

    Look T, you need to answer that. Just relax. Your parents love you and they only want whats best for you. Okay?, said Bette.

    Youre right. I need to talk to them., said Tina.

    Youll be okay, T. Please call me if you need me. I love you.

    I love you, too Bette. Thank you.

    Call me okay?, asked Bette.

    I will. Ill talk to you later. Bye Bette., said Tina.

    Bye T., said Bette. She stared at the phone when their call ended and missed the woman shed just spoken with.

    Tina wiped at her eyes and stood up to answer the door. Her mother was standing there looking both sad and angry, her arms folded across her chest.

    Tina, we need to talk about this, she said, walking into the room.

    Tina shut the door behind her and felt the knots of tension in her stomach. She was living in one of her worst nightmares. Tracy Kennard sat down on the bed and motioned for Tina to sit beside her.

    Youre pregnant, Tina?, asked Tracy.

    Tina lowered her head and sat down. She nodded in response. I.uh, took a test last night.

    Tracys eyes filled with tears. Oh, God., she said.

    Tina didnt know what to say, so she just sat there in silence, staring down into her lap.

    When Tracy spoke, her voice was low. She was trying to keep her emotions contained. Tina, how did this happen? Why werent you more careful?

    Ium.I dont know, Mom. Im so sorry. I never meant for this to happen.

    I just.weve talked about this before. Ive talked to you about safe *****. About protecting yourself., said Tracy.

    I know, Mom. This.this isnt your fault. I did this. I made a mistake.

    At the end of Tinas sentence came another set of knocks before Steven Kennard entered the room and walked over to his wife and daughter.

    Ladies, whats going on here?, he asked, his dark brown eyes reflecting his unease.

    4. I actually liked Tina’s parents for being big enough to stay calm about her pregnancy, then came dinner. I still cannot fathom why sexual orientation matters so much to some people. I hope that Tina will allow herself to love Bette with or without the consent of her family. I love this story, thank you for updating and I look forward to reading more. . .SOON!

    5. It’s so sad that we think we need to have it all together as humans. We look too much at what is different than to realize that we are a race of people. Thanks for writing a sensitive piece. Tina’s parents and family can change their thoughts if given a fair chance. Love can change people, selfishness cannot.
