    The Roommates: Chapter 21

It sure is, Mom. It makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about. And to know that that ***** girl was around my girls really bothers me., said Tracy.

Well, one things for sure, I dont want any of them coming around this house. I have to work with them, but Ill be damned if I have them in my home., said Steven.

Tina felt a huge lump in her throat and tried her best to swallow it.

Ive heard some of em say theyre born like that, but I dont buy it. God made Adam & Eve not Adam & Steve or Eve and Eva., said Franklin.

Tinas grandmother sucked her teeth in disgust. Imagine that. Blaming it on the good Lord. Its just sick. Im so glad we havent had to deal with that.

Amen to that, Grandma, said Franklin.

Well, you dont have to worry about me. I love guys. Especially Craig. He is just so special., Kaitlyn began. And once again, her selfishness saved Tina from another awkward conversation. She launched into another discussion of Craig the Magic Man. Tina was grateful for the distraction and pretended to listen as she ate her dinner in silence.

When dinner was over, Tina and Kaitlyn cleared the dishes and put up the food. As evening turned to night, Tinas grandparents made their exit and the pregnant, troubled, UCLA freshman headed up to her room and changed into her pajamas. She got into bed and called Bette.

The phone rang a few times before Bette answered. Hello?, she mumbled, groggily.

Bette, are you asleep?, asked Tina.

There was an edge to Bettes voice. Yeah. Im exhausted, Tina.

Tina? She called me Tina., thought Tina.

Bette, are you okay?, she asked.

Im fine. I just.lookI just need some rest., said Bette.

Oh, okay. Im sorry to bother you. I didnt realize you were asleep.

Yeah. Thats okay. Illummm.Ill talk to you later., said Bette.

The phone clicked before Tina could respond. Something didnt feel right. Bette was so short with her, theyd barely had a conversation. Tina thought on it a moment and rested her head on her pillow. She didnt have long to contemplate as the Sand Man was making it difficult to keep her eyes open.

    1. I actually liked Tina’s parents for being big enough to stay calm about her pregnancy, then came dinner. I still cannot fathom why sexual orientation matters so much to some people. I hope that Tina will allow herself to love Bette with or without the consent of her family. I love this story, thank you for updating and I look forward to reading more. . .SOON!

    2. It’s so sad that we think we need to have it all together as humans. We look too much at what is different than to realize that we are a race of people. Thanks for writing a sensitive piece. Tina’s parents and family can change their thoughts if given a fair chance. Love can change people, selfishness cannot.

    3. Oh poor Tina, everything is driving her crazy and hard, she need time to rest and nothing bother her and let her and Bette meet and talk and be together. Hope thing will well with Tina. Please post soon, thank you! Great chapter!
