    Bette learns Italian and Tina starts to scream. (A B&T beginning set on a college campus.)

    So, tell me about your first date with a woman. Tina said with a smile.

    Bette relayed her tale and Tina listened intently, fighting the feeling of jealousy that slowly seeped into her consciousness. She was happy for Bette but she knew that she really would have been happier WITH Bette. The roommate talked late into the night, before Bette slowly made her way over to her rumpled bed spread and slid beneath the covers.

    This sounds like its turning into a relationship. Bette seems so happy. Im glad shes happy. I love it when she smiles. I just hope that Eric will be enough to jolt me back into reality. Oh shoot, Eric. I need to tell Bette, Tina thought.

    Hey Bette, she said.

    Yeah, whats up?

    I invited Eric to come and visit next weekend. Will it be okay if he stays here? If not, its okay. I can try and find a hotel room or

    Bette interrupted, Tina, thats more than okay. Im glad you finally get to see him. He can stay here. Ill be sure to give you guys some privacy when he comes. I appreciate your asking me about it, though.

    Thats what Bette said, but that wasnt what she was thinking. Erics coming? And I thought I heard Tina call me baby earlier. Well, if hes coming to visit I can only assume that it was just some slip of the tongue. Bette does sound kind of like baby. Maybe I imagined it. I just thought that maybe Tina and I could.No, no, no. Im seeing Sidney. Tina is straight. And thats all I need to know. Right? Yeah.

    On the other side of the room, Tina thanked Bette and settled in for a good nights rest, hoping that the arrival of Eric would bring the departure of her attraction to one Ms. Bette Porter.

    Bette sat at her desk, trying to get caught up her Italian language course. Tina was already fast asleep and Bette envied her. It was almost one in the morning and Bette still had a lot of ground to cover. After her date with Sidney on Saturday, Bette had come to spend a lot of time with her new blond girlfriend and shed neglected this course. The two had been nearly inseparable all week long. They studied together, ate meals together, and spent their free time attached to each others body. Bette still wasnt ready for a sexual relationship with Sidney and she smiled as she thought of how patient Sidney was being.

    14. I kept thinking as I was reading the girls admission of love that at the end of the chapter it was going to be all a dream. So glad it wasn’t. Loved that Bette was bold with asking Tina how she felt. But I am so dense because if someone called me baby and told me to embrace my sexuality I wouldn’t have thought anything of it. However, Tina’s dream, I would have definately picked up on that. I guess your Bette just has good gaydar. Beautiful writing by the way.

    22. Oh Yea….you are on a roll…Instead of 7 years in a relationship…why not 20? I have a couple of friends that have been together since high school and they are now in their early fifties. How often does one find the love of their life so young and stay together for the rest of their lives? You can tell by the way they look at each other, the spart that brought them together is still there. Awesome
