The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 6

“Good choice, Chris,” he said.
She nodded politely.
“You driving or am I?” he asked.
“You drive,” she said. “We’ll take my car. The gifts are already in the back.”
They climbed into the vehicle and Tina finally had a chance to check her phone. She smiled widely at the text from Bette Porter and happily replied.
Years back, her parents had moved from the outskirts of San Francisco to more conservative, Orange County. They drove to the country club near her parents’ home and waited in line at the valet. Henry paid one of the valets to bring their gifts inside before he walked around to the passenger side and offered Tina his arm. She took it and they walked up a short flight of stairs and into the building. Her parents were already they, lapping up the attention of their friends and business associates. Her mother wore a black gown, her salt and pepper hair down around her shoulders. Her father looked nice in a standard tux, his hair thinning.
Tina smiled at her parents when they made eye contact. She and Henry walked toward them. “Happy Anniversary!” they called together. And then a round of polite hugs ensued.
“You look beautiful, Mrs. Kennard,” said Henry.
“Thank you, sweetheart. I love, love, love your accent colors,” she replied.
He pretended to blush, and Tina pretended not to be nauseated. “Dad, you’re looking dapper,” said Tina.
Her father smiled warmly. “Thank you, Christina. You look wonderful. Thank you so much for putting this together. We are having a great time.”
Tina met her father’s gaze. “You deserve it,” she said. And she meant it. Though she often didn’t see eye to eye with her mother, she adored her father.
Tina looked around for her sister. “Is Kaitlyn here?” she asked.
“She’s here,” said her mother. “She and Dan just got here though.”
The blonde nodded, already annoyed. How she could already be annoyed, she didn’t understand. But she found herself chewing the inside of her jaw. She whispered to Henry that she was going to go find the coordinator and make sure everything was running smoothly. He nodded and gave a small smile, grateful for the reprieve.

I’m glad that you gave to us Tina’s side of story. But i really confused – Tina married to Henry? In second time? What happen to Eric?
Great to get to know this Tina. Learing about her life makes me think that Bette can not only improve the situation of “Bette 2019” but of “Tina 2019” as well.
I love that Tina already feels some kind of connection to Bette.
Looking forward to their breakfast meeting :-)
This 2019 update to RoomMates has been an intriguing saga for sure. I’m trying to fill in the blanks and have come to the conclusion that the young Tina was not able to bring herself to tell her parents about Bette and their relationship. So her life continued along the expected path of hetero script. Right????????. and so did Bette’s as she chose Sidney to marry.
Cant figure out in my tale what happened to Eric though????. In my story he had to have made a play for Tina by threatening to “out” her to her parents but then ????? this is where my 2005 version falls apart. Auh well, that’s why U’re the Author ????and me the neurotic reader ????????????
Uhmm it seem Tina and Henry are playing some kind of charades with the family.. they all seem to be wearing a mask at this party… did get to meet sissy but she must be a pill or knows Tina’s secrets. Great phone call giving Tina a bit of a slow burn, my favorite way to have her in. Lol.. thank you
In 2019, Bette and Tina meet for the first time when they bump into each other on the street. This is not a continuation of 2005 but a completely new reality. Bette has transferred from the 2005 reality to the 2019 reality with the memories of 2005. Its going to make Bette look like a lunatic if she explains how she knows Tina’s nickname or even why she is so attracted to Tina. Her best bet is to face today’s reality and figure out how to get Tina into her life. In the meantime, she is still married and so is Tina. This has become a very intriguing story.
Good writing….can’t wait for more.
So intrigued now with this story!
Thanks for posting regularly, loving it!
