The Roommates – Pride & Prejudice: Chapter 5

Tina had finally stepped over the threshold at Alphaville Studios and was immediately ushered into the cluttered office of her new boss. A short, tanned man with thinning sandy-brown hair, a five o’clock shadow, and an inviting pair of warm brown eyes rose to meet her.

“Tina Kennard! Good to see you, kiddo,” he said, shaking her hand.

“Good to see you, too,” Tina replied, the butterflies in her belly beginning to calm, soothed by the warm and inviting presence in the man’s soft eyes.

“I’m Jeffrey Ingram; Doug’s colleague. Just call me ‘Jeff’. I was out of the office when you were in before. It’s nice to finally meet you.”

    “Same here.”

    “Are you excited?” he asked.

    “Very,” Tina replied.

“Great. You’re going to have a great summer, kiddo. I’ve been in the movie biz for the last 15 years. I started Alphaville with Doug about 2.5 years ago. We’re a young organization, but we’re very hungry and very disconcerting in what we want to bring to film. We’re also extremely busy. Doug and I can’t be everywhere and we need help. And we don’t like to bring in a lot of super-experienced people because they have their own way of thinking about production and that’s not the way we like to think. We started Alphaville because we wanted to do things differently. And from what Doug tells me, you think differently as well.

“We want your fresh ideas and fresh way of looking at the world. I want you to ask as many questions as you can. You’re gonna be part admin, part director, part producer, part editor, and a huge part of our team. We need to set up some structure in the way we do things and we’re going to get your help to set that up as well.

“I know it sounds like a lot….and it is.

“But you’re gonna have a lot of fun and you’re gonna learn a ton.”

Tina smiled. “It sounds perfect for me.”

“Great. Let me show you around and let’s see if we can find a place for your things. I won’t even say it’ll be a place to sit because you’re going to be moving around a lot. I’ve asked my admin, Gina, to order you a laptop because you’re gonna need to be mobile. Let’s check with her and get you started, okay?”

    1. Thanks for the update! Love this! I’m glad to see Janice trying to get her family back together, i just hope Bette doesn’t have a cow and understands. I hope Tina and Bette can connect soon, and that Tina does tell Bette about Eric. Tina wouldn’t get jealous of Damon being able to see Bette would she??

    2. Wow, I didn’t remember Bette’s Mom talking about a husband. Does Bette know??? I am glad they are both doing well in their jobs, but hope that they can connect soon. And Tina better tell Bette because otherwise a bad misunderstanding may be underway.

    3. Good chapter. Hope B&T will connet soon and Tina should tell Bette about eric and hope he not stalker Tina. No drama for B&T please. Please post more, thanks!

    4. What an amazing update! We sooo missed this story! We see some progress in B’s mom’s life, as well as the friends in LA. Schedules in different locations can be VERY frustrating and stressful. Tina needs to be honest with B. It will strengthen their communication and relationship. As for Valerie’s reaction to B’s improvements in her outlook and knowledge, just proves that she’s pleased with how well B took the advice. Thanks for posting. We enjoy so much tiny B and T as they are experiencing new things on their lives. PPS- Lucero & Marsha (From Mexico City)

    5. Tina really should speak to Bette and let her know about Eric, but with the time difference she will just have to do it via E-mail. Tina should also express her love for Bette so she will feel secure and not get all jelous and snippy. PPS

    6. B&T needs to reconnect real soon. I think Tina should tell Bette about Eric’s possible reappearance. At this early stage of their relationship and being 3000 miles away from each other, honesty is a very important factor. Thank you for updating this story, MTS. Beautiful writing as always:)
