The Roommates – Pride & Prejudice: Chapter 5

    “Let’s do it.”

“Great Kiddo, welcome aboard,” said Jeffrey.

Tina and Jeff walked out of his office and Tina got introduced to everyone. Jeff took her on a tour of the lot and they shared lunch. He was an interesting combination: laid back and intense. He was passionate about film and it was easy for Tina to see why he and Doug had started Alphaville.

Her days were full of meetings, activities, and note-taking. And what fascinated Tina most was Jeff ’s viewpoint, his way of looking at things. He was a uniquely creative individual and as they worked together more and more, Tina began to understand why Jeff was the creative lead for their operation. Doug was the business guy. He was out of the office most of the time, schmoozing with investors, actors, directors, and everyone else under the sun.

At 9pm on Thursday evening of her first week, Tina was on set with Jeff. The crew was taking a short break and as they stood at one of the service tables, nibbling on chocolate chip cookies, Tina asked him, “Are you married?”

Jeff smiled. “I am….to this business.”

Tina chuckled. ”You’re right about that. Do you ever get out of here before midnight?”

“Hmmm. Not in the last month. But I gotta tell you, I love this stuff. I have to get it out of my system. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be any good to anybody. You got a boyfriend?” he asked.

Tina swallowed thickly and replied, “Something like that.”

    Jeff nodded. “Oh. Girlfriend, right?”

Tina eyed him curiously. “How did you know?”

“It’s L.A., Tina. Besides, your eyes always seem drawn to the female lead. I can’t blame you. She has great legs.”

Tina felt a rush of crimson flood her cheeks. “Is it that readable?”

“Not too readable. I’m just great at reading people. I love studying people. Interactions. A great interaction makes a great scene.”

    “True.”

“What’d you think of that last scene?”

Tina was grateful for the change of subject matter and equally as grateful that her opinion had been requested on something so important.

“It was good. Not great. Good. I think it’s missing a more intense connection from Jake. I mean he’s seeing a son he never knew he had. He’s mourning the death of his long lost love and then he finally gets to meet this kid he never knew existed. The way the scene is now, it feels more like he’s seeing his son after a long time away.

    1. Thanks for the update! Love this! I’m glad to see Janice trying to get her family back together, i just hope Bette doesn’t have a cow and understands. I hope Tina and Bette can connect soon, and that Tina does tell Bette about Eric. Tina wouldn’t get jealous of Damon being able to see Bette would she??

    2. Wow, I didn’t remember Bette’s Mom talking about a husband. Does Bette know??? I am glad they are both doing well in their jobs, but hope that they can connect soon. And Tina better tell Bette because otherwise a bad misunderstanding may be underway.

    3. Thank you for the update. Janice has truely become a mother and a women that would be fun to hang around with. I would love to spy a Bette and Tina sighting instead of an Eric sighting.

    4. Good chapter. Hope B&T will connet soon and Tina should tell Bette about eric and hope he not stalker Tina. No drama for B&T please. Please post more, thanks!

    5. Tina should tell bette she saw eric, so bette won’t jump to conclusions should alice mention it and we all know alice and her mouth, lol. :)

    6. What an amazing update! We sooo missed this story! We see some progress in B’s mom’s life, as well as the friends in LA. Schedules in different locations can be VERY frustrating and stressful. Tina needs to be honest with B. It will strengthen their communication and relationship. As for Valerie’s reaction to B’s improvements in her outlook and knowledge, just proves that she’s pleased with how well B took the advice. Thanks for posting. We enjoy so much tiny B and T as they are experiencing new things on their lives. PPS- Lucero & Marsha (From Mexico City)

    7. Tina really should speak to Bette and let her know about Eric, but with the time difference she will just have to do it via E-mail. Tina should also express her love for Bette so she will feel secure and not get all jelous and snippy. PPS

    8. B&T needs to reconnect real soon. I think Tina should tell Bette about Eric’s possible reappearance. At this early stage of their relationship and being 3000 miles away from each other, honesty is a very important factor. Thank you for updating this story, MTS. Beautiful writing as always:)
