The Roommates – Pride & Prejudice: Chapter 5

    LadyBette: ☺ Yes Maam.

Femme Fate-Al: She’s been getting off super late. Her boss is a total workaholic, but she totally adores him.

That comment made Bette uncomfortable and before she realized it, her eyes were squinted and she started to chew on her lower lip.

    LadyBette: Really?

Femme Fate-Al: Don’t go freakin out on me. She’s not “in love”. She just….ummm…. “idololizes”

    LadyBette: I guess.

Femme Fate-Al: Shit. I gotta go. I hear my boss coming. TTYL.

Before Bette could respond, Alice was already offline and the dark-haired young woman couldn’t stop the chuckles that slipped from her lips as visuals of Alice struggling to appear involved and attentive popped into her mind.

It wasn’t long before the chuckles faded and her lonesome dark eyes roamed around the empty apartment. She missed the fullness of having her friends around her all the time and shuffled back to her room to send Tina another email. She was also catching on to Tina’s schedule and knew that at 5:30pm West Coast time, Tina was no where near available or ready to take her phone call.

Bette crawled into bed and started typing furiously. She was exhausted from a long day at work, but filled with an ever-present excitement for what she was doing. And she longed to share her excitement with Tina. As her fingertips raced across the keyboard, she tried to express as much as she could with her written words. When she exhausted her thoughts, she did a quick proofread and sent her well-crafted words to Tina before turning out the lights and drifting off to sleep.

Though she’d told Bette she was working late, Janice’s mission that evening had been purely personal. She was seated across from her husband, David, at Clancy’s Bistro. Any one passing by their table for two would instantly understand the tightly wound air of tension between them.

“David, I thought we were going to try,” said Janice, tears in her soft blue eyes as her tired mind struggled to find the right words to keep her marriage alive.

David sighed. He wasn’t an unkind man. He was just tired of being torn and confused and his sigh was an exhausted recognition of the daily struggle he’d endured since he’d walked out on his own family to be with Janice.

    1. Thanks for the update! Love this! I’m glad to see Janice trying to get her family back together, i just hope Bette doesn’t have a cow and understands. I hope Tina and Bette can connect soon, and that Tina does tell Bette about Eric. Tina wouldn’t get jealous of Damon being able to see Bette would she??

    2. Wow, I didn’t remember Bette’s Mom talking about a husband. Does Bette know??? I am glad they are both doing well in their jobs, but hope that they can connect soon. And Tina better tell Bette because otherwise a bad misunderstanding may be underway.

    3. Thank you for the update. Janice has truely become a mother and a women that would be fun to hang around with. I would love to spy a Bette and Tina sighting instead of an Eric sighting.

    4. Good chapter. Hope B&T will connet soon and Tina should tell Bette about eric and hope he not stalker Tina. No drama for B&T please. Please post more, thanks!

    5. Tina should tell bette she saw eric, so bette won’t jump to conclusions should alice mention it and we all know alice and her mouth, lol. :)

    6. What an amazing update! We sooo missed this story! We see some progress in B’s mom’s life, as well as the friends in LA. Schedules in different locations can be VERY frustrating and stressful. Tina needs to be honest with B. It will strengthen their communication and relationship. As for Valerie’s reaction to B’s improvements in her outlook and knowledge, just proves that she’s pleased with how well B took the advice. Thanks for posting. We enjoy so much tiny B and T as they are experiencing new things on their lives. PPS- Lucero & Marsha (From Mexico City)

    7. Tina really should speak to Bette and let her know about Eric, but with the time difference she will just have to do it via E-mail. Tina should also express her love for Bette so she will feel secure and not get all jelous and snippy. PPS

    8. B&T needs to reconnect real soon. I think Tina should tell Bette about Eric’s possible reappearance. At this early stage of their relationship and being 3000 miles away from each other, honesty is a very important factor. Thank you for updating this story, MTS. Beautiful writing as always:)
