The Silent Treatment
Tina lingered outside of the door.
“This is Bette Porter.”
Tina smiled and walked away. She loved the sound of Bette’s voice. And she loved the way Bette answered the phone at the Gallery. She was Bette Fucking Porter.

Tina’s Journal Entry #7
I was already in bed by the time Bette got home. Home! I
wanted to see her before she went to bed but I didn’t want
to pressure her. So, I listened as she walked in, locked the door,
threw her keys on the table, her footsteps click clacked on the
hardwood floors, she rummaged in the kitchen. The sound of
liquid sloshing in a glass. I wanted to sip wine with her and
ask her about her day. I miss that part of us. The ease of
our connection. The intensity of our connection. I heard her
footsteps get closer. Then they stopped in front of my door.
The door was open. I hoped she’d peek her head in. She did
not. She stood outside of my door for five minutes. Then her
footsteps slowly click clacked down the hall. I miss her. I miss
her touch. I miss…everything.
Bette’s Journal Entry #8
I can’t stop thinking about making love to Tina. That’s why I
stayed at The Gallery so late. I was hoping she’d be asleep when
I got home. I was too afraid to look into her room. I know if I
did, I would’ve ravaged her. We haven’t been intimate in over 6 months.
The two times in Vancouver do not count. I miss fucking my wife!!

Tina was watering the garden when Shane appeared through the gate.
“Hey, Shane.”
“Hey, Tina.”
“What are you doing?”
“Checking on you and Bette.”
“Checking on us?”
“Yeah. Just seeing how “the silent treatment” is working out for you.”
Shane laughed. Tina rolled her eyes.
“It’s been brutal.”
“I bet.”
“Where is she?”
“I don’t think she’s up yet. It’s hard to tell when we sleep in separate bedrooms.”
Tina shrugged.
“Soon.”
Tina shrugged again.
“Any plans for today.”
“Nope. It’s hard to make plans when you can’t talk to the person you want to make plans with.”
“Yeah. That’s crazy. Well…what do you want to do?”
Tina raised her eyebrows up and down. They both giggled.
“Okay. You can’t do that. Anything else?”
“Hmm…I’d love to take her on a hike. Explore somewhere we haven’t been before.”

Of course, I loved the chapter but these two need to stop with the assuming and second guessing. I’m usually all over Alice for sticking her nose in where it doesn’t belong, but I am with her on this one. I know we can’t just snap our fingers and voila they are magically back together. They need to work at it and hard, through all the hurt feelings and anger. They need to get their stuff together and shit or get off the pot. Post soon my friend.
Totally agree with you!
Yes. I think they are getting there. But we shall see. It’s going to be an emotional journey for sure.
