    Turning Page

“Now Dane now!” Bette shouted to the air, she immediately went down to the floor and rolled on it, as the plane suddenly made a rough turn adopting an angle that was almost impossible to do with those cargo planes. When Shane saw Bette’s action she immediately knew what she had to do, so the moment she saw Bette getting to the ground she bent using all her weight to push the guy standing behind her with her ass, at the same time she hid her head between her hands. Gravity did the rest and Marco lost complete stability and rolled down the floor of the plane, losing the grip he had on his gun as he did this.

“Mierda!!” He shouted as he realized what was going on and yet was unable to stop any of it.

Bette on the other hand allowed the weight of her body to be carried by the force of gravity and landed against the right wall of the plane, and so did Shane.

“Ouch!” Bette cried out as she not only hit the wall but also a box of tools that was resting somewhere with her head. “That’s gonna hurt tomorrow” She said as she felt the plane regaining its horizontal position and saw Shane quickly trying to gain cover.

Marco was also getting up and in a split of a second he weighted his options. He could try and regain possession of his gun and try to shoot either of the agents but since he was barely standing up and his gun seemed quite far that was a big no no. He could turn himself in, accept his defeat and spend the rest of his life in jail or he could jump, after all the gates were fully open now and he found himself standing right next to them. He chose on the latter option and as he saw Bette standing up he knew it was then or never so with the most triumphal face he could pull he took one last look at Bette and waved at her before he jumped.

“Motherfucker” Bette shouted as she walked towards that gate only stopping once to collect a parachute that was attached to the wall nearby. She put away her gun and secured it and right then started taking off her bulletproof vest, as she was joint by Shane who saw what she was doing and immediately started helping her.

“Are you sure about this?” Shane asked as they were securing the parachute to her body as fast as they could.

“Yeah” Was all Bette replied for she was not gonna let him escape, not when they were so close to achieving what they were appointed to do, roughly a year ago.

    “No vest?”

“No gun” Bette said pointing at where Marco’s gun had landed.

“Okay… you’re all set… drive safely” Shane winked at her longtime friend and gave her a pat on the shoulder.

“Go help Dane at the cabin… and Shane, could you please find me faster this time?” Bette said rather serious but with a small smile forming at the corner of her mouth.

“Well try to remember to switch on the signal in your cell phone this time” Shane replied also trying to feign annoyance. “Be careful” She added before turning back to go assist her other longtime friend.

Bette just nodded, turned around and jumped.

Ten hours later Bette was quietly sitting under the sun in the middle of nowhere, she had just checked her mobile device again to make sure that it was still working and providing the much needed satellite signal of their current location.

“What’s the matter agent? It’s not working properly? Are we gonna be stuck here forever?” Marco ironically asked from his sitting position, with his hands handcuffed to his back and a very nasty bleeding cut above his left eye.

“Oh don’t worry my friend, it is working. It’s just that catching the buyers that were waiting for you may take them a couple of extra hours” Bette calmly said as she checked for the bleeder on her own right eyebrow.

Just as she finished her line they heard the distinct noise of the sirens in the distance and Marco understood that he would be in prison for the rest of his life only hoping and praying every day that his family wouldn’t be killed, once the big shots behind this buy up heard that their guys had just gotten caught.

“Don’t worry, we’re gonna offer asylum and protection to your wife and kid… in exchange for her cooperation of course” Bette said, as she had a human side after all.
