    More time at the lake.

     

     

     

    They eat dinner and then play a few rounds of cards, before heading off to bed.  Bette and Tina spend the next two hours making love.  Tina collapses on top of Bette after another earth-shattering orgasm.  They fall asleep just like that.

     

    An hour later, Bette is wakened by her cell phone.  She slips out from under Tina and goes to the living room to answer it.  Lt. Porter takes care of business and then ends the call.  Her mind now occupied with the phone conversation, she goes to the back porch unable to sleep.  She stands and stares out at the lake, visible only by the moonlight.

     

    Tina reaches for Bette to snuggle with, only to find her gone.  She gets up from the bed and throws on her nightshirt.  She makes her way quietly through the house.  She finds her on the back porch.  “Baby, are you ok?” she asks as she approaches her.

     

    Bette turns and takes Tina into her arms.  “Yeah, I’m fine.”

     

    “What are you doing up?”

     

    “The PD called and I didn’t want to wake you.”

     

    “Is everything ok?”

     

    “It will be” Bette says as she pulls Tina tight to her chest.  “It will be.”

     

    Tina is very concerned, but is trying to give Bette enough space to deal with things.  “You know that whenever you’re ready to talk, I’ll be here.  I’m not going anywhere.”

     

    “I know sweetheart.  And I love you for it.  Let’s go back to bed.”

     

     

     

    The next morning, Bette is up very early, having had a fitful sleep.  She heads out for a run around the lake to try to clear her head.  The weather is perfect and the trail is much more scenic that her normal one.  But no matter how hard she pushes, she is unable to remove the thoughts weighing on her mind. 

     

    She returns to find the house still quiet.  As she makes the coffee, she hears Hannah stirring.  Bette goes in and picks her up, so not to wake the others.  She changes her and gets her some breakfast.  Then they take a seat together on the back porch.  They play for a few minutes before Bette pulls Hannah into her lap.  She is seated facing Bette.  “I need to talk to you for a few minutes Hannah.  Think you can spare some time for your Auntie Bette?”

    10. I was a happy camper when I saw that you had posted. It takes me awhile to read but I did and I very much enjoyed this chapter. Bette and Tina are going to make good parents whether they adopt or have one of their own.
