Valentine’s Evening Chapter Two
Bette dropped her arm from Tina’s waist entwining her hand with Tina’s and slowly moving her around so they could face each other just before turning the corner that led to the final piece of the collection.
Tina gazed at Bette with an inquisitive look, not understanding why they paused. ”Baby?” She questioned.
Bette took a deep breath bringing both Tina’s hands to her lips, kissing each palm lightly before she clasped them to her heart. Bette stepped closer to Tina so her soft words could only be heard by Tina. ”From the very start, down deep inside, I’ve been crazy about you. Crazier about you than any other woman I’ve ever met. Hell, I must be crazy about you because I stayed in love with you even when I thought we were over.” Bette paused, ”You’re the one, Tina, you always have been from the moment I placed that earring back in your hand.” Bette smiled and gently kissed Tina like that first kiss all those years ago. She then slowly took Tina by the hand and turned the corner. Bette let go of Tina’s hand and stepped back so Tina could see the sculpture sitting on the pedestal. The glass gleamed with subtle colors of black and white. Two women leaning towards each other, one holding what looked like her hand out towards the other.
Tina slowly approached the piece to get a better look. She leaned closer staring at each individual remembering the intimate moment that this piece captured so well. She looked down at the metal plaque that had the words ”A soulmate found” engraved. Tina slowly turned her head, allowing Bette to see the tears that had begun to fall.
Bette slowly approached Tina. ”Do you like it?” She smiled and continued ”I had it commissioned especially for you, for this day.” She leaned over and kissed the tears that ran down Tina’s face. Bette slowly wiped the tears with the pads of her thumbs as she said, ”It’s the moment my heart never forgot.” She leaned in and kissed Tina softly on the lips before she said, ”There is one more thing.” Bette reached behind the sculpture stand and opened a hidden compartment. She pulled out a small canvas bag and held it out towards Tina.

Wow, I need another box of tissue… that is so sweet, so magnificent, so beautiful and so Bette and Tina…. the gift was not just the remembrance of returning of the earring but the gift of her heart and soul as symbolized in that huge blue diamond. “Blooming Love” what an appropriate title….
This really touched my heart…. thank you….
Beautifully written
Martha is so right. Absolutely beautiful and oh so original. I can easily picture this unfolding. I love love love that this work was commissioned by Bette just for Tina. Forever commemorating their love. And a diamond representing the earring? You got some major writing chops to be sure. This is a real keeper. Love the long suffering James as well. Just amazing. Great present to wake up to!
