Not wanting to run into Bette, Tina purposely drove 90 minutes east of Los Angeles to the Inland Empire to shop for Shanes surprise birthday party. Kit had given her a Christmas list of things to pick up under any other circumstances she would have faked a mysterious illness to get out of doing it. However, given her current situation she searched for any little thing to help remove Bette from her mind and did something she thought she never do, volunteer. Kit grateful for her services shoved the list in her hand and off she went. So, there she was cruising up I-91with the window down allowing the warm California breeze to blow in her face. As she continued to drive it was hard not to focus on the young couple to the right of her. Driving in a burgundy drop top Mercedes SL-Class the young couple did not hold back when it came to expressing their love for one another. Kissing, smiling, rubbing, touching, all the while singing along to whatever song played on their radio. Seeing them happy and in love warmed her, however it was hard to deny the envy she felt as well.

There was a time she and Bette acted just the same. Closing her eyes she shakes her head from side to side in disappointment for doing the one thing she tried to prevent from doing, think of Bette. Forcing her eyes open she pressed on the gas pedal speeding up passing the couple. Taking in a deep breath she grips the side of the steering wheel then looks down at her cell phone sitting in the passenger seat. The night Bette suddenly suffered from what she like to refer to “acute diarrhea of the mouth” she sent 52 text messages and called 22 times. When she awoke the following morning she was surprised to see she hadn’t received a single thing from her. She was still upset with her however, there was a part of her that was looking forward to some form of communication from her even though it wasn’t a chance in hell she was going to respond. As she continued towards her destination looking through her rear view mirror she sees blue and red flashing lights vastly approaching. Knowing, it was her sign to either slow down or merge to the furthest right hand lane she turns on her turn signal and begins to merge.
