    When Hope Is Lost.

“I so love you…” Tina shared as she kissed her wife a couple of times before opening the door and bringing her inside. Allyn and Maxine were sitting on the couch holding the baby and chatting quietly as Angie was asleep. They both looked up and smiled as they heard the couple come inside.

“Hey, you two, welcome home! Thank you for taking care of yourself, Bette.” Maxine whispered. “ I was going to talk to you about how tired you looked.”

“Thanks, Momma, but I know how tired I am and I did promise you all that I’d do my best at taking care of things. I wanted to support my son and be with him for his first round of chemo. It’s taken so much out of him and I’m worried, but I also know that I have to be in good health to take care of him. For our family’s sake it’s important for me to spend some time with Angie and get to know her as well. Mom, Momma, thank you both for being here for my family as I so appreciate having you both as my moms.”

“You’re welcome sweetheart. Come over here and I’ll give you your daughter to hold for a few minutes,” Maxine shared. “We’re going to go back to the beach house to rest, but if you need us, please just call and we’ll come right back.”

“Thanks, but you two also need some time together as I know how hard it is to be separated. I am so grateful for all you’ve both done for Tina, the kids and myself. This situation with Ozzie is so difficult but having you all assist us with it means so much to me. I’m sorry to have missed Thanksgiving this year with you all, but being with Oz was where I most wanted to be.”

“Sweetheart, we just postponed it until you and Ozzie can both be at the table. Hopefully the Christmas table will be filled with amazing food that we all can take part in eating. We have a month of getting him stronger and being able to be there with us. We’ll do all we can to make that happen,” Maxine said to her daughter as she stood up and handed Angie over to her.
