Who’s Your Heart Chasing? – Chapter Two

I snap myself out of my own little world and look up at Angie stepping into the living room.
“I’m in here.” I stand to my feet. “How was your time out with your friend?”
“It was good, I guess I’m going to head on up to bed.”
“Wait, before you do.”
“Yeah?”
“Leave your phone with me.”
“What?”
“I want you to leave your phone with me tonight.”
“No way.” I watch as she rolls her eyes.
“Until your mother and I can figure this whole thing out with Carrie. I no longer want you alone with your phone unless you are out with your friends.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me.”
“No I am not.” I hold out my hand to retrieve the phone from her.
She hands me the phone with a look that could cut me.
“I promise you’ll get it back in the morning.”
She sighs before turning and walking away from me.
I look down at the phone and place it next to mine on the table.
I feel the hours slowly passing by and I still can’t wrap my head around what had occurred today. I take a look at the time and it reads 11:32pm. I don’t even feel tired, I just feel mentally exhausted. I’ve been watching the same rerun of a movie that plays on the tv. I sit up from my laying down position and look between mine and Angie’s phone. I pick up her phone and look at it before clicking the screen which displays a photo of her and her friend. I smile seeing how happy she looks in that moment.
The screen goes dark and I press it again. I swipe further and it’s prompting me for a passcode. I know I shouldn’t but I start to type in a random number. It declines. I start thinking of her date of birth. I try again and again it declines. My thoughts start to run deeper and on my fourth attempt I gain access.
I feel the guilt run through my body and my stomach curls but I continue anyway. I begin to search through her phone log and I finally come across Carrie’s contact name.
My finger hovers above her name. Should I call her? Should I tell her to stay away from my daughter? Maybe I should just call her because it’s the only way I’ll be able to get a response.
My mind plays games with me and before I realize it, my finger hits the call button.
I listen as the rings go through.
“Hello, honey.”
I let it hit a weird silence. Though my mouth is moving, no words are escaping.
“Angie?”
The call goes silent for several seconds.
“Tina?”

I just discovered your story and I’m very intrigued. It’s different from the other stories i have read.
It’s really weird Carrie has contact with Angie but doesn’t reach out to Tina to talk and find closure. That she and Bette doesn’t get along and tolerated each other for Angie’s sake i understand but i always felt Carrie tried to pull Angie in and tried in a sneaky way to get Angie on her side and put negative thoughts about her Mama B into her.
And Tina, so far i don’t like your version of her, blaming Bette for everything while she is as much to blame. Poor Bette, she always takes the blame and accept it, thinks herself she is the one who messed up. In this case it’s Tina who asked Bette if she was still in love with her while she already knew that answer. Maybe Bette’s timing could have been better but still it’s Tina who started this mess with her question to Bette.
I hope you will post a new chapter soon and to read about Carrie’s and Tina’s conversation.
