Wings of An Angel – Bette and Tina – Chapter 10
Ms. Porter has suffered massive head injuries to her brain and due to the swelling it was necessary to cut out a portion of the skull to allow the brain freedom, so as not to be crushed. We were able to stop the internal bleeding and repair the damaged tissue surrounding her lung punctured by her cracked rib. She has sustained a few minor fractured bones in her legs and arms, which will remain in casts for six weeks. I thought it best that Ms. Porter be put into a comatose state for at least seven days as the healing pain will be too unbearable for her to handle in a waken condition. The next twelve hours will be the most crucial. Should she make it past the first six without any danger, signs are in her favor that she will survive the next six. Right now, all we can do is wait and monitor her closely. Ms. Porter is a fighter; she never gave up on me. In his mind he said, Just when we thought there was nothing left we could do, she would come back. Silence greeted him at first and soon after, sounds of grateful tears drummed the room.
When can we see her? Antoine stated with a matter of concern, Ms. Kennard, I must warn you. She wont resemble the Bette you know, but just remember that she is still the same woman. There will be swelling and bruising making her physical shape appearing much worse than what it actually is. Tina clasped his hand and said, Thank you for all you have done. Antoine stood and mentioned, Right now it would be best that Ms. Porter be disturbed as little as possible. It would be beneficial to her health to not have the whole family present in the room. I will only allow one visitor for now. There was no question as to who would be spending that time with Bette.
Tina followed Antoine to Bettes private room 910 in the trauma center. Tina stood outside of the door trying to prepare herself for what she was about to see. Are you ready?. Tina raised her head slightly and responded, As ready as Ill ever be. The room was set in dimmed lights and the eerie beeping of the machines made the room seem haunted with ghosts. Tina gasped when she first glanced at Bette; the beauty of her love sheltered in an unfamiliar face. After excepting the shock of scanning Bettes swollen face, she began to notice that her head was wrapped in white bandage stained with blood, a breathing tube was inserted into her throat that was connected to an oxygen tank, wires and needles made a home in certain critical areas of her body and her complexion was that of one who had crossed the line of death one to many times in pursuit of happiness. A bed will arrive shortly for you to rest in. Talk to her; she can hear you. As he was about to leave, she asked, How is the boy? He answered, Critical, but stable. Tina was left alone with her internal grief and scrambled thoughts, but she did manage to say, Can you hear me sweetheart? Well you better listen well. My love and heart is all I have to give. I cant live without you Bette.

I liked the confrontation between Tina and the Angel of Death. A different but interesting approach with great tension.
I actually have to agree with slipperynipple. I like this story and love how you don’t just rush through things (unlike IC & Co. since they only have a maximum of 60 minutes a week to play with), but I actually had to keep stopping while reading this so I wouldn’t wear myself out. Introducing the supernatural was a good idea seeing as it would take a miracle for someone to come out of an incident like that alive.
wow, this was a long hiatus for this story…i hope bette will listen to tina and stays alive and get well soon
what Succulent said… but hey it was well worht the wait… so now please don’t make us wait another 3 months plus… great chapter…
I found your story today and spent my afternoon reading it. This is intriguing me. The thing I am most curious about is the little boy, something is weird with that situation. I am wondering if this is going to be an adventure like the movie “What dreams may come.” Will we find the little boy helping Tina face the Angel of Death? This story is also reminding me of Stephen king’s book “Rose Madder.” Although I really enjoy this story and your writing is great I would have to agree with slipperynipple about the length in certain parts. It can take away from the story. other than that I am enjoying it, please continue!
Cool! I seem to be drifting into the dark side of the world lately. The fight between Tina and the Dark Lord was intriguing. The Angel of Life just seemed to stand their and let Tina fight for Bette. The only time that you saw it or it was mentioned was when they were running down the hall and that Angel was running beside Bette. It will take all that Tina can give to Bette to keep her alive. Please post soon.
Good to see you back Leo and this is good chapter. When Tina talk to the Angel of Death is scary, ok glad Bette ok now and hope she will wake up soon. OK post soon please, thanks!
Wow what a drama – great to have you back….

Leo, god damn – you have been gone so long and then you give us the chapter from hell :o)……holy christ this was intense leo – absolutely amazing. Pleas do continue – We so want more, but please not so much drama on the next one eventhought we love it :o) Post soon
Well, so you disappear and then out of nowhere….BANG, after that chapter you once again have our attention…pls don’t ever go away that long again….I will assume that you are busy writing the next, and the next, and the next chapters….as you owe us big time….almost forgot….THANKYOU
Ya know this will be the first time I will write this. The story is good but this was too much. I think I skipped to the ending. The middle took to long and took me along a path I was not very interested in. But believe me this does not mean that the story did not have the desired affect but sometimes less is more. Could of done without some of the death part and the construction site part. Thanks for the story
Three months and thirteen days……..three months and thirteen days is how long you had a woman waiting…(its this how you threat your women)…….LE0, three months and thirteen days………..BUT it was worth the wait………….This chapter by far is your best……The struggle that Tina is going through to keep Bette where she belongs is heart felt…………The fight that she has with the Angel of Death clearly shows how in love she is with Bette and how far she will go to keep her…………..Now PLEASE let Tina win this fight so we can find out the mystery about Bette and Kit………..WE want a happy ending………Now I’ll only waiting THREE HOURS AND THIRTEEN MINUTES this time…………Please continue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
glad youre back a great chapter
Leo, welcome back although it’s been WAY TOO LONG. What an ambitious and complex chapter, thank you! If you ever feel another writer’s block coming on consider writing a simpler 1 or 2 pager to keep the creative juices flowing and keep in touch with your readers.
