    Bette laughs. Yeah it’s been a long time coming. They walk into the room where Tina is prepped and ready for a C-section. Bette takes her place by Tina’s head. Hey you. Bette says leaning in giving Tina a kiss on the lips.

    Tina smiles. Mmmm. I missed you. Where you been?

    Bette laughs. It’s been all of a half hour since I saw you. I went for dinner and movie. Where do you think I’ve been?

    Tina laughs. Yeah? See anything good?

    Bette smiles. Just the past two years of my life passing before my eyes. You scared me.

    Sorry, didn’t mean to. And the last two years have not been too bad huh?

    No it’s been the best two years of my life and I have a feeling it’s about to get better.

    Tina’s eyes water. Ladies. They hear Dr. Griffin walking in and greeting them. She leans in to Tina’s side of the sheet partition. How’s the mommies to be been?

    We’re good Doc. Ready to see our future. Tina says looking up at Bette who is holding Tina’s hand in her own smiling.

    Great! Let’s get started. She turns to talk with the nurses in the room.

    Bette kisses Tina’s forehead. Here we go baby.

    Dr. Griffin asks for the scalpel. Don’t look Bette until tell you.

    Don’t worry I won’t. She leans her head against Tina’s as they hold hands.

    Ok there’s the sack. They hear her talking with the nurses. She makes an incision and pops the baby out with ease. They clear out the baby’s nose and mouth quickly and she starts to cry. Ok Bette would you like to cut the cord?

    Bette smiles, rises, and goes to the other side of sheet. Oh my God she’s beautiful babe.

    The doctor hands her scissors. Bette cuts the cord. The nurse wraps the baby in a blanket and takes her over to the baby table to clean her up some more. Bette never takes her eyes off of her while they check her over. She hears Tina asking was she ok. Yeah baby. Yeah, she’s just fine.

    Meanwhile the Doctor was putting Tina back together and finishing stapling her stomach. Bette was oblivious to it all. All she could think of was that tiny little being on the table screaming her head off. Well she sounds like a Kennard. Tina says.

    Bette laughs. Yeah. She’s amazing. Bette can’t stop smiling. Her heart was beating fast from excitement.  The nurse drops the sheet while the other nurse hands the baby to Bette who walks her over to Tina who’s crying. Here’s your little girl mommy. She lays her in Tina’s arms while the doctor and nurses look on.

    You’re right. She’s so beautiful. Tina says.

    So you have a name for her? Dr. Griffin asks.

    Bette and Tina look at each other and say in unison, Isabella Kate.

    Izzie. Bette whispers as she kisses the baby on the head.

          I’ve been in sole Lockdown here in UK since last March and only seen my little Great Granddaughter a couple of times
          Roll on the vaccine jab.
