THE GOOD WIFE
The Good Wife was a huge success for CBS and this May the network announced the show’s renewal for its third season. One of the main characters on a show is Kalinda Sharma (Archie Panjabi), who is the firm’s in-house private investigator. Over the course of the first season, Kalinda was showing interest in both men and women, which resulted in a sexually-charged plot including Kalinda and her potential love interest, FBI agent Lana (hah!) Delaney (Jill Flint).
From her first appearance on the show Lana attempted to seduce Kalinda sexually and also to offer her a job. Kalinda wasn’t interested in a job offer but the two did share some heavy flirting over dinner and a kiss behind a garage door, when only their feet were shown. Producers Robert and Michelle King explained why this kiss wasn’t shown openly. They wanted to keep Kalinda’s character a mystery, sort of like showing viewers the door but promising to open it later. Kalinda has a lot of layers and they wanted to peel it slowly and give the viewers more in the second season.
And they did. In the episode “Poisoned Pill” we were shown some of Kalinda’s past, including a character named Donna (Lili Taylor). Kalinda is trying to reach out to her ex-girlfriend and stop her from spilling her secrets. Later, Kalinda goes to, presumably, a lesbian bar and after some deep conversation the two of them kissed, openly.
