As the rest of the TV networks, NBC announced its fall line-up in May. Here’s their final schedule.
MONDAY
8-10 p.m. The Sing-Off
10-11 p.m. The Playboy Club
The Sing-Off, which aired during the holidays in 2009 and 2010 is turning into a two-hour, weekly series hosted by multi-platinum recording artist Nick Lachey. The show will feature a cappella groups performing popular songs with no lip-synching, backup bands, or safety net. They’ll be singing for the ultimate prize – a Sony Music recording contract and $100,000.
The last hour will be taken by a new drama, The Playboy Club. NBC describes is as “a provocative new drama about a time and place in which a visionary created an empire, and an icon changed American culture.” Set in 1960’s Chicago Playboy Club, the show might be a little mix of Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire as the characters include the mob, politicians and lots of Playboy Bunnies who have drama of their own. The cast include Eddie Cibrian, Laura Benanti as original Bunny, who calls herself Bunny Mother of all the girls, and Amber Heard as a newbie bunny. Oh, and don’t forget that one of the bunnies, Alice, is a closeted lesbian who is stuck in a sham marriage with a guy name Sean.
