    Chapter 16 A week later, Saturday evening, Tina pulls into Bette’s driveway. She exits the car and makes her way to the front door, pausing for a moment before knocking. She takes a deep breath as she hears footsteps approaching, and Bette then opens the door and they both stand still, looking at one another

    Chapter 16

    A week later, Saturday evening, Tina pulls into Bette’s driveway. She exits the car and makes her way to the front door, pausing for a moment before knocking. She takes a deep breath as she hears footsteps approaching, and Bette then opens the door and they both stand still, looking at one another intently.

    (Tina) Hi

    Bette continues looking at her for another moment before responding.

    (Bette) Hi

    There is a sudden sound from the direction of the kitchen and Bette glances back over her shoulder. Tina follows her gaze and raises her eyebrows as she takes a step back.

    (Tina) Oh my God I’m so sorry, I shouldn’t have just turned up like this

    Bette frowns in confusion as she turns back and watches Tina step away, and she then smiles when she realises what Tina is thinking.

    (Bette) Tee wait

    Tina turns to walk back to her car and Bette steps after her, reaching for her hand.

    (Bette laughs) Jesus would you hang on a second?

    Tina turns to face her.

    (Bette) It’s Alice. Alice is in the kitchen

    (Tina) Oh

    They both look at each other and laugh and Bette nods towards the driveway.

    (Bette) You didn’t see her car?

    (Tina shrugs) Her car is always in your driveway

    Bette smiles, and then looks at her for a long moment. She realises she is still holding Tina’s hand and drops it suddenly.

    (Bette) I’m surprised to see you

    Tina looks downwards and nods. She looks back up and meets Bette’s eyes.

    (Tina) I know I don’t deserve you giving me your time, but there are things I’d like to say, if you’ll let me. I understand though if that’s not something you want to do

    Bette looks at her for a moment before responding.

    (Bette) We can do that

    Tina nods and Bette steps back, holding the door open for her to pass through. They walk through to the kitchen together, and Alice’s face lights up as she sees Tina approach. Alice steps towards her and throws her arms around her

    (Alice) Oh my God where the fuck have you been?

    Bette smiles as she continues on into the kitchen, leaning back against the bench as she picks up her wine and takes a sip. Alice draws back, holding Tina’s arms and looking at her seriously.

    2. Okay…. an exclusive relationship which is not necessarily going anywhere? Whatever works. Glad they talked and worked it out. I’m not sure what they have decided anything except for the labels which represent what they are already experiencing and to continue and see where this goes. There are no expectations for the future. But there is an underlying desire that they will do the future together whatever that is.

    3. Wow, funny thing! They both feel the same way, want the same things. They just needed to express them. Why is Tina so dead set about a commitment ? Who hurt her so much? Glad to see your post. Keep them coming!

    6. Whew! What a cliff hanger you left us in 15. A new flavor to the Bette and Tina story is really appreciated!

      As an aside, I wish you had added health issues/STDs as support for Bette’s exclusivity request. I don’t think we talk about or address STDs. Not all partners are “safe”. Remember we are a collection of all of our active partners.
