    ”The first thing I would recommend is to delineate ”yours,” ”mine,” and ”ours.” I understand you each have separate savings, checking and investment accounts but you maintain a joint account to which you contribute equally for your daughter’s expenses. Up until now you had separate residences and you each took care of your own financial obligations for your respective residences but both your names are still on the title/deed for the current joint residence.

    Your insurance policies name each other as sole beneficiaries with the surviving partner having responsibility for Angie’s care and well-being as well as that of any future children. Both residences are paid off and the three bedroom condo is unoccupied.

    Bette you’ve just inherited a $2M combined residential/commercial property pretty much scot-free of any financial obligations but you will need to invest capital in order to complete the renovations. At this time you are not sure if you will occupy the residential space but you are looking to house an art gallery and offices in the commercial storefront. Did I miss anything?”

    ”No that about sums it up Jack. We met with my lawyer earlier today. I’ve signed the papers for the beachfront property. Our closing date is in 10 days after which I will need to hire an architectural interior design firm to oversee the renovations. We will renovate the residential area with the intent to occupy and if we decide not to, then we will lease the space. I had considered selling my house to raise the capital for the renovations figuring we could live in the condo temporarily until the work is completed.”

    ”We also have two friends that are both interested in my condo for sale or lease. It is fully furnished so I also have additional revenues that will come from the sale of the furniture, large appliances and electronics.”

    ”Here are my thoughts. Bette I don’t recommend selling the house to finance the renovation. You have excellent credit on your own and with your combined assets you can likely get a very good low interest rate loan to pay for that. The building itself could serve as collateral. Tina your condo is in a pretty established neighborhood and although you will get a good price for it if you sell I don’t see much long-term investment potential there. I would recommend selling the condo and investing that income elsewhere. You might even consider a business partnership with Bette. An art gallery in that area would do very well but even if it doesn’t you have prime commercial square footage that can be used for just about any type of establishment.

    4. You would have to throw the monkey wrench into the mix, didn’t you. I have faith that Bette has learned her lesson and if Candace tries anything, Tina will be the first to know.
      Then they’ll team up to slap her down!

    6. Am I right that it was Tina who did the cheating on Bette with Helena? Please do not let Bette get caried away. I hope she’ll put Candace in her place and tell her she’s a married woman!

    7. GM! Thanks for this post! Sorry, I didn’t make the post last night cause my body shut down on me about 9 or so. Plus it was storming here and that helped put me to sleep! I just can’t do Candance!! Pray everyone have a great day. I woke 40 minutes before the alarm had to pee. PPS

    10. Come on TEAM Porter show a little faith in our girl. LadySovjet yes you are correct. In this story Tina cheated with Helena; Bette never cheated and she’s not about to start now. Do you all really think that she would jeopardize her new relationship with Tina- the love of her life, the mother of her child, the woman she’s waited 8 long years to reconcile with? If you think there is a chance Bette would cheat with Candace then I’m not doing a good job of establishing her character :-).

      I threw Candace in the story for fun, and she will be around for a while so just stay tuned. Thanks as always for those who read and choose to comment. I appreciate the silent readers too.
