    Oh Frankie.

At home that night lying in bed the girl’s face was in her mind, she wasn’t interested in boys or male teachers, Kirsty didn’t seem interested in boys but she was always eyeing up the young male teachers.  Frankie woke the next morning having dreamed she had spoken to the girl with the long dark hair and her name was Lydia, and they had become friends.  Frankie noticed the girl more and more as she moved around the school.  As Frankie moved into year 9 after a full year and a half of what she now knew was a crush on this year 11 girl she began to panic as this girl was going to either leave or move to the 6th form college building on the other side of the playground a place out of bounds to anyone below year 12.  Frankie would stand on the landing above the main corridor between lessons and watch the girl she now knew as Cat McKenzie walk past, she sometimes thought Cat was glancing up at her, the view she had right down Cat’s blouse from her vantage point was something she enjoyed very much.  Frankie was realising she was not like her friends and women were what made her feel good their looks their shape and their sexy movments.  She was a lesbian and she knew it.  She was out to Kirsty who didn’t care if she was but she had sworn her to secrecy about it and Kirsty as good as her word had said nothing to anyone about how Frankie felt.

Frankie’s home life was bad enough and Kirsty wanted to protect her friend from any bad times in school.  Frankie would hang around after school just to catch a glimps of Cat but one day she got more than she ever could have hoped for.  Cat was coming down the path, Frankie was alone that day, Kirsty had had to be home early to go to her Granny’s for tea.  Cat had two friends with her, she said something to her friends and they turned off to the other path leading out the side gate.  Cat continued on down the path.  “You’re Frankie Alan aren’t you?”  Frankie was at a loss for words, not like her at all, “Eh ye.. yes I am, and You’re Cat McKenzie.”  “Yes that’s me, I’ve noticed you watching me Frankie is there something you want from me?”  Eh no…no eh well it’s just,” Frankie was blushing now, here was a year 11 talking to her one she fancied madly and now she couldn’t even speak.  Cat smiled and walked on, “bye then Frankie.”  “Bye,” Frankie was rooted to the spot, that was the only time they spoke until Frankie bumped into Cat buying a video in the city one afternoon, “Hello Frankie Alan, I see you are still watching me,” Cat had a glint in her eye, “want to go for a coffee?”  Frankie was weak at the knees, “I’d love to but I don’t have any money I only have my bus fair home,” Frankie was embarrassed and disappointed she desperatly wanted to go for a coffee with Cat.  “Don’t worry I can afford two coffees come on lets go to the cafe across the street.” “Ok thanks I’d love to if you’re sure.”
