”I’m so full, I can barely breathe,” I whine, stroking my tummy.
”No wonder. You ordered way too much for yourself,” Tina claims.
”Because I was starving.”
”That’s the problem. It’s in our basic nature to reach for a large portion when hungry. And then complain about overeating.”
I roll my eyes. ”Here we go again. The food and nutrition management.”
She shrugs and proceeds to collect empty takeout containers. I stand up to helр her.
”Thank you, by the way,” she suddenly says.
When she doesn’t elaborate, I look up at her with an arched eyebrow. ”What for?”
”For the treat,” she smiles warmly and goes to carry the containers to the trash.
I frown as I follow her with my eyes. Nobody has ever thanked me for paying for anything. I’ve had so many girlfriends, most of them I took to the most luxurious restaurants in NYC, I bought lavish gifts for them and brought them with me to some of the most beautiful and expensive places in the world. I’ve never heard a single word of gratitude from any of them. I didn’t really pay attention to it when I was with them, but now, after Tina thanked me, I’m beginning to realize that I’ve never been thanked before. And it strikes me. That is why I’m quite shocked right now. Shocked and madly exalted.
I come after Tina, carrying the rest of the garbage.
”Thank you too,” I respond to her.
She meets my eyes and grins. ”What for?”
”Just because.”
She chuckles softly. ”In that case thank you for thanking me just because.”
”Are we having Thanksgiving in advance?” I say in jest.
”We could. Are you superstitious?” she parries the question.
”Not at all. Why?”
”Well, you know this superstition that celebrating holidays in advance is bad.”
”Nonsense. I will celebrate any holiday I want whenever I want. If I want to celebrate my birthday, say, on November 15th, then I will. What’s gonna happen to me? Am I gonna turn into a goat? Or meteorite’s gonna fall on my head?”
”No, you’ll just grow a year older prematurely,” Tina laughs.
”Oh no, then probably it’s a bad idea!”
We laugh together as we walk back to the lounge and take a seat on the sofa. The dogs come with us and get comfortable on the carpet.

That was wonderful chapter; your stories always lift my mood, what a nice and humorous afternoon at Bette’s apartment; that was really hilarious, I love this story; indeed, though being almost the opposite one of the other, I love both of your stories.
I think Bette is lost, she is totally infatuated for Tina, and I think she is going to keep falling more and more for her.
They come from so different worlds and, as when they talked about their hairs, each of them feels attracted to some aspect of the other, I’ll say they may complement each other. I like that Tina is looking at Bette in a friendly way, maybe more than that, she mentioned about her beauty and her body; which lead me to think Tina already ‘checked’ on the brunette.
Careful Bette the best hunter can also be hunted.
What a great chapter, please Valerie, update soon, I’ll be eagerly waiting for the updates of your stories

Why is this story not finished.. just when it’s getting good…thank you I liked what is here…but would like more.
Great story with good humor. I laughed a lot. It’s a pity there’s no sequel.
