Can we get it back – Chapter 12

    “Thank you.” Tina gets out.

“I’ll come and get you when she’s ready.” The nurse says with a smile.

    “Thank you.” Tina says again.

Later that night, Tina and Angie walked through the door at Bette’s house. Shane had come to drive them home, since they didn’t have Tina’s car with them. They had gotten to see Bette for about thirty minutes, she was sleeping and still under because of the anesthetics still in her body.
The doctor had informed them of the procedure done, and what they could expect as a result because of it. They had successfully stopped the bleeding and all the tests they had done, had been good. No indication of damage to anything. But again, they would know more when Bette woke up. The doctor was very positive. That had made Tina relax and breathe again. Angie had clung to her mama T the whole time there. Now they were home and ready to go to bed.

“Do you want something to eat before going to bed sweetie?” Tina asks as she locks the door behind them.

“I’ll just take an apple or something. Not really hungry.” Angie replies.

“Okay sweetie. I think I’ll go upstairs and get to bed. Will you be okay?” Tina asks as she takes a hold of Angie’s arm and softly strokes it.

“I’ll be fine. Mama B is fine, so I’m fine. When are we going over tomorrow?” Angie asks.

“After breakfast. Visiting hour starts after 8, so we’ll go so we get there around then. Is that okay?” Tina says, waiting for Angie’s reply.

“Yeah. I’ll set my clock for that.” Angie says and gives her mama T a big hug. “Love you mom.” She adds.

“I love you too sweetie. Sleep tight okay?” Tina replies, placing a soft kiss on Angie’s forehead before walking upstairs.

The next morning is a repeat of the day after the first surgery it seems to Tina. She’s still scared, scared that something might be different with Bette, even if the doctors said that she most likely is the same, since the surgery was a success.
Breakfast this morning for both was a bowl of cereal. Fast and easy. At 8 they were ready to go over to the hospital. It was Saturday today, so Angie did not have school.

    1. Whew….a small stroke.. okay… no damage. That’s good.. Another surgery and more recovery time. That’s about as good as it gets under the circumstances. I feel like Shane…just put my heart in my throat when I heard it. Hopefully Bette is on the road to recovery.

Poor Bette – thought two weeks was a dream. At least Bette will now believe that Tina really is here for her. Now its on the road to recovery and then the road to reconciliation…

Great Story….but I need my heart pills close for the drama you write. I think that’s a good thing. Keep it up.

    2. That was a close call. I feared that the second surgery affected Bette’s memory or ability to speak.
She still has a long way to go.

Won’t be easy for the family to settle to something like normalcy.
