“Yeah. At least Angie does have you and Peggy. Angus told me that you two have been spending a lot of time together spoiling Angie.”
“Well, isn’t that what grand-parents do?”
“Yes, but please don’t overdo it.”
“There’s no such thing as overdoing it when it comes to loving a child. Something else I missed out on.”
“Thank you, Daddy.”
“What for?”
“Just for everything. I love you.”
“I love you too Baby, and it’s me that needs to thank you. I’m so grateful that I’m here to experience all this joy. To think I had given up and was just waiting for the cancer to take my life. Now I have so much that gives me the will to go on.”

Dr. Millikan, the Oncologist that Peggy recommended fully expected Melvin to go into remission and have several more years ahead of him. Not only would he be there to walk Bette down the aisle when she and Tina exchanged vows, but he would likely live to walk Angie into her first day of pre-school.
The cancer therapy was working wonders. It had given Melvin a whole new lease on life, but the doctors also believed that his new attitude of acceptance was also a contributing factor. In addition, he’d found a friend in Peggy Peabody. He wasn’t looking for any romantic entanglements, but he did find himself attracted to Peggy in much the same way that Bette was. Peggy reminded them both of Maxine. She’d certainly filled the maternal void for Bette and for Melvin she was a companion in his old age. Like Maxine, she was one of the smartest women he’d ever known. They got into some heavy arguments about politics and humanity; each holding their own and sometimes actually agreeing. The quality he admired most about Peggy, was that she challenged him to be a better man, and to live up to his potential as a loving and caring father and grandfather.
Much to Helena’s chagrin Peggy had become even more ingrained in Bette’s family life as her relationship with Melvin, Tina and Angie grew closer. In fact, Helena hadn’t even been seen or heard from since the disastrous lunch with her mother several weeks prior. She could be dead for all anyone knew, but the estrangement was of her own doing.

Oh, I always liked Kit with Angus….menopause! Oh, yea…..I remember it well. The hot flashes particularly…the heat starts deep in your core and the spreads through your body like a volcanic eruptions – last a few minutes and you sitting there wondering where the hell did that come from? After two or three you realize what is happening.
Nice chapter…. romance between Melvin and Peggy? Wow…who knew? I was wondering who you would have escort Tina down the isle. Good choice!

May i ask you about Kit and Angus – really? Don’t you think that age difference between them too large? How much – 20-25 years? And with older woman and younger man (we know that in generally men have more sexual relationship, than women.) So 30 years man and 55 years woman – i just can’t see them in long period.
According to this story its 15 years….Once you are an adult, I think that is up to you who you want to date. Will there be problems? More than likely but in this case, its the younger person going after the older one. I have a lot more problem with older folks trying to entice younger ones. That to me feels like one cannot accept their age and want a sweet young thing. At least they are not hiding anything from each other. So if both are willing, why not!
Maybe in this story Angus 40 or nearly years old than.
In TLW i must say their story – it’s one of most believable story in this show for me (usually relationship like this ended with younger half cheated with person their age)
Menopause in most women happens in their late 40s and early 50s. For me it was age 50. So that would make Angus 35? So when Kit is 65, Angus will be 50. When Kit is 75, Angus will be 60. And when Kit passes on, Angus will still be able to marry again.
In love, there are always risk that it will not turn out the way you would like. But if you see the risk as being worthwhile, then you go for it. For you never know, it could just work out!
